ChefQs Travel Recipe: Your shrimp and rice roll is called "Shrimp Chow Fun" There is nothing glutinous about it because there is no glutinous rice in it if they are made well. They should melt in your mouth like a cloud. If they were glutinous they would be chewy which means it's not high quality.

I don’t think it’s called “shrimp chow fun” lol that’s stir fried rice noodles. You mean Shrimp Cheung Fun? I’m not Chinese so I don’t know the Chinese terms of it. But we Vietnamese call it “Banh Cuon Tom” . Which is made from rice flour similar to chow fun. Depending on rice flour quality and mixture… It shouldn’t fall apart when picking it up. A bouncy texture is what I meant. :)

Sorry… just never had it in a foil wrap. For a fancy dim sum restaurant, it’s not a good way to serve it in that context. Especially when Yelp Pics and menu pics were seen served on porcelain spoons. Lol you know when you expect something and it comes out not as expected? 😂

It's not about you, it's about appreciating the food in whatever way it's presented so long as it tastes good. I'm sure the restaurant had a good reason. Don't ever go to Vietnam if your standards are so high. ; )

@@violetviolet888 lol so I have to be fake in my reviews? I’m not vandalizing anything. An honest review is an honest review. They are a busy place and is a high standard place … a Michelin guide restaurant…. not China towns cheap dim sum. I’ve been to VN and ate at side of the road shops. You must have some sort of connection to this restaurant lol taking it very personal. A review is a review and that is my take on it. I’m not trying to do harm to any business… Better yet it’s probably good because the business knows what is wrong to fix it. Not take peoples criticism and throw it back at them. -.-

Not a spoon spoon… but usually the xiao long bao is served there is normally served in the ceramic spoon like in the picture on their menu. But when I was there it was served in disposable foil cups.
