Reasons for picking this hotel: $105 is a real bargain for this hotel, and it was convenient for my needs as wanting to try out the newly opened subway line, and for visiting relatives in the area. Due to the various issues facing San Francisco, occupancy rates in San Francisco are below pre-pandemic levels and bargains can often be had booking close-in to your stay date. I found the hotels often did not start discounting until a day or two prior to stay.
Transportation / Access:
The hotel is easy (but not cheap due to San Francisco transit prices) to access from the airport. BART is $10.55 and takes 28 minutes to Powell Street station, from there, transfer in the underground walkway to the muni T line one stop of Chinatown Rose Park station for $3, from there it is a 6 minute walk downhill. Be aware there is quite a steep hill to walk back to the station so it may be easier to take a taxi if you tire easily.

Even though I am just a lowly silver member with the Hilton program I was pleasantly surprised to see I was upgraded from the cheapest standard double room to a deluxe high floor king bed city view room. Room was quite spacious and had a sizable working desk on the window side, as well as a small couch under the TV facing the bed. Amenities were pretty standard with Teavanna tea, Coffee Bean coffee, and paper cups that made it convenient to make a coffee or tea to go in the room. No bottle water was provided except for Evian which was $8 per 1L bottle. Note that San Francisco has some of the best ranked tap water in the USA, and it is perfectly fine to drink tap water. The view out the window was nice, and while there was some street noise it was manageable. There was a small empty mini-fridge, and on the bedside table an alarm clock, and a white-noise generator (which is curious don’t see those in hotels often). Electric sockets are the standard US grounded sockets.
Closet consisted of a safe box, ample hangers, iron and ironing board. The bathroom was spacious but boring, it had a har dryer. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner were provided by Crabtree & Evelyn. As typical in US hotels, no other toiletries were provided but I did ask for a toothbrush and one was delivered to me free of charge.
Final thoughts
Normally this hotel prices at about $200 - $300, so getting the room for $116 was fantastic for a Hilton in a major US city. San Francisco has high rates of homelessness and crime, but thankfully there was not much homelessness in the immediate vicinity of this hotel during this stay.
