Join Rotolight Worldwide Ambassador and Sony Artisan of Imagery Jason Lanier for a pin up shoot with the iconic Golden Gate Bridge as a backdrop for the world's first recorded shoot with the amazing Rotolight Neo video lights. PLEASE THUMBS UP, COMMENT AND SUBSCRIBE!
This shoot will show you all of the range that the Rotolight Neo's can do...from shooting during the magic hour into sunset, and then into the night for some truly breathtaking images.
Jason uses both the Sony A7 and A7s for the shoot using three different lenses. The Sony FE 16-35 Zeiss by itself with no adapter. He then uses Sony A mount glass with the 135mm f/1.8 Zeiss and the Sony 70-400 G lens. He uses the A mount glass with the Sony LAEA4 adapter which gives him autofocus functionality.
To purchase the Rotolight Neo and get a promo code for 10% off please visit www.jasonlanierworkshops.com/rotolight for all the details.
We hope you enjoy the video and ask you to share, like and leave a comment. We really appreciate the time you spend with us on our channel and invite you to stay and watch more.

Jason, I thought that the abandoned Six Flag video was the best, but this one rocked my world. The location, the technique, the lighting and the cameras, combined with your skills, blended to create some awesome images. Katrina was well worth waiting around for. She has that Gatsby era vibe down pat and seems to be a very nice person to work with. I envy your opportunities and would love to do a shoot like that. I am going to S.F. in June, so I will hit Torpedo Wharf with my A6000 and my daughter for a model. Keep videos like this coming!

As a mostly "Urban Hacker" photographer, who is now using models thanks to you, both Rotolight NEO (3 light kit) and the RL48B (use 2 or 3) have opened up a multitude of new Universes to me and my crew... Come to me ANOVA PRO with all your beautiful accessories (especially the double Yoke). I have two huge mansions to shoot next weekend with 2 models, just hoping the ANOVAs get here on time and that I don't get arrested again due to replicating the Sun. Thanks so much for introducing me to better lighting and to the usage of models in my shoots (I would go out of my way to remove any human presence from my stills before I saw your prison shoot). I am getting detained more often and have a collection of Police/County/Whatever fees for you to pay :) Cheers.

Like so many others, I just got my Rotolight Neo because of you, Jason. And I am very disappointed. My trusty Yongnuo YN 216 (50 $) is much, much brighter and has almost the same light quality. This Rotolight is nice and well build and all, but is it worth the 400 bucks? surely not! What a bummer indeed! I understand, that you want to earn money and your videos are fine entertainment, but I can't hear all that Sony-and-Rotolight-halleluya anymore. Unfollowed!

Jason, a fan of your urban explorer videos and photos (which the Rotolights excel at). However, not selling me on the Rotolight's for portraits. They are very effective and useful for many things, especially video (which is CLEARLY what they are designed for). Unfortunately they lack power, CONTRAST and depth of field for great portraits. The big problem is THEY HAVE NO CONTRAST. There are no dramatic shadows, not a dramatic drop from hightlights to shadow to add contrast and interest to the images (specular to shadow is too far / unfocused / non dramatic). It's like a large flashlight, not bright enough for the highlights and not dark / dramatic enough change (due to continuous) from highlights to shadows for depth of field and effective contrast and drama. In addition, you have to crank up the ISO to try and get more bang from the lights which costs image quality / noise. Every other shoot I have seen from you has "wowed" me, unfortunately this one I could easily do better with my Speedlites without much effort at all (and wouldn't need a crew of assistants, just me). Clearly not from your skills which far exceed mine, but from the lighting you have chosen which fails at this task in a major way. Still a fan, but these lights excel at your urban explorer photography - but fail miserably at controlled portrait situations. Speedlites have more power, brighter / sharper highlights, and MUCH more contrast. Continuous / LED lighting has come a long way. Very expensive studio versions of continuous are close to matching strobes (but the Neos cost almost as much as the 600EX-RT's which have radio control in them saving radio trigger cost with full control for all settings from the camera, have more power, what are you saving?). Smaller continuous lights like the Rotolights just don't have the punch yet for what you tried here. Couple of years and I am sure they will be there, but not yet. Sorry about the criticism since I am a great fan of yours, but in this instance the product is not up to the task.
