It would be kind of interesting to see a video about the two Universities in SF (SFSU and UCSF) and their campuses. I am a student at SFSU and the campus is so beautiful and a large center of life for college kids and I imagine UCSF is as well, idk an exact concept for the video but I think that would be sort of interesting and I feel like of the different universities in California, these don’t get talked about very often in conversation. I’m a proud gator (it’d also be interesting to learn the history of the SFSU mascot since gators aren’t native to California). Love the channel, keep up the great work Joey!!

Thanks Maleeya! I actually love the idea of finding out whats the deal with the gator mascot. I went to SFSU as well and never bothered to question it 🤷♂️

As someone who has left the city for a bit due to covid, I've started to feel homesick. That's why I love how your videos take viewers intimately close to the locations through both the shots and the commentary. There is a sense of 'place' that is preserved in your videos that isn't found in drone shots or restaurant reviews. Thanks for the hard work this past year and keep it original!

I’m a born and raised San Francisco native, now living in Elk Grove califoria and I love your video presentations. Would you consider doing a short documentary on bike riding around San Francisco.. places to explore from a bike riders point of view? I believe that you would present it well!☺️ Thanks

Happy anniversary to the channel! One of the things that's kept us occupied this year is visiting all the steepest hills from your video --- we have 3 left! I think I saw you out on Balboa once with your camera, but wasn't sure (you know, masks) but if I do see you again I'll be sure to say hello :)

Congrats on a year on YT Joey!!!!! Both the open history project in Richmond and Lauren brought me to your channel. I love your POV. 加油! Suggested topic but it’s controversial: history of public schools in SF. Did you go to Wash, SoTA or Lowell? Bussing. Did you see the recent decision to make entrance to Lowell a lottery?

Would love a video about obscure movies that took place in SF. “Time After Time” comes to mind, there’s a shot in it that shows a gas station on Fulton St and that just seems so foreign to me. As a Richmond district native I’d like to say keep up the great work!!!

I like that idea! My friend also introduced me to “Memoirs of an Invisible Man” with Chevy Chase. Need to dig into those.

I remember there was a gas station on Fulton and Arguello where the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses is now and another gas station on the northeast corner of Fulton and 8th when I lived in the Richmond in the late '60s to early '70s.

Thanks for the wrap-up. My first connection to Clement Street was the family going there with my uncle. He was born in Harbin and spoke Russian as one of his native languages. So we went to a Russian restaurant and he ordered in Russian. This little rube (me) was dumbfounded. The street was known at the time for its large Russian-speaking community. I think that has all disappeared. Neighborhoods change. Your enthusiasm for The City and its stories is a wonder. Maybe you'll be known as the next Herb Caen - of the digital era. But without the inside gossip. I'm very much looking forward to a story about Isleton.

I worked for a shipping company in the mid 80s. The claims manager was ethnic Russian from Harbin. He had great stories.

You'll be amused to hear that New May was recently used for some exterior shots for the MARVEL movie 'Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.' Also, for a long time the announcement for Chabot st. was pronounced Cha-bot st. on the 31 Balboa's auto announcement. You could tell who the natives were because they'd snicker each time. Years later MUNI finally got around to re-recording the proper pronunciation so no one laughs about it anymore.

Okay, I wasn’t too interested in the movie before, but now you have my attention

@@JoeyYee They also shot some chase scenes downtown using a fake MUNI bus. The Ali Wong movie, 'Always Be My Maybe' did a few scenes in the Richmond district too. One scene that was supposed to be 5th and Clement was soooo obviously filmed up in Canada somewhere. No way in hell does Clement st. have such wide streets.
