They need to stop choosing which organizations they patronize based upon financial pier pressure and just follow the law. What are your issues in the case or cases now pending in court? I have a Load Mine in Johannesburg California and I am willing to donate $25.00 if the issues you are addressing are helpful to all miners. In 1998 the Feds stopped allowing miners be to file Land Patents which I would like to take up issue with and have reversed. So.... one thing we used to do is have a kid go up to officer, and be very enthusiastic about hunting for gold and having fun! using ploys may be against some people's better judgement, but you do what is in your best interest. and kids are great at de escalating tensions. we've had troopers and forest reps. help us out, even if they were first opposed. we also calmly rake over areas we've been, leave no piles, no trash, NO CIGGS OR ALCOHOL, we leave it better thn when we got there. it takes very little to achieve a lot. we've also hit brick walls. that's when we go downstream. also make contact with a local who may have someone who will let you on private land. leave it better thn when we got there. and give them a little gold if you find any. they will almost always give it back. leave a tree planted etc. it gets noticed, others with private land open arms to you. now you have honey holes. and no cops..may take while to establish, but pays off. I know most know this, I'm just repeating

hate to tell all of you, (as a retired combat vet) if you read and learn the acts passed like the patriot act and the Obama medical plan. under the vail, in the bill passed by them. we have given up pretty much every right. It is hard to believe that we can't even pan on land that we the people own. As of June 2016 we can no longer sluice in the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire and Maine. Obama by executive order made a large tract of land in Maine a national monument I think it is called the North Woods National Monument. We need a group like AMRA here on the East Coast. It is sad when you have to carry all these papers with you in order to prove you are allowed to prospect.

I like to conserve our mountains as much as the next guy, but a handful of guys panning for gold is not doing anyone any harm. the San Gabriel River gets trashed every weekend by non-prospectors visiting the canyon. that would be a much more important task for the USFS to focus on.

I want to get into gold panning and I live in LA. Only done some paydirt from Amazon so far. Now I'm realizing how hard it is to find a good spot and not get hassled. So, this was a good video for me. I'll look into the AMRA. Side note, would it be illegal to light a citronella candle? It looks like everyone at the table is getting eaten alive by flying insects!
