awesome! ive only ventured about 3-4 miles up the west fork from the main road going up azuza canyon. back about 10-15 years ago i had awesome luck at the east fork. huge rainbows where the east fork would flow into the dam

What kind of fishing line would you recommend for this reel? And how big of a line?

I use 6lb mono main for this reel. Probably you could use 4lb mono too, but need to change very often.

大渇水でサンガブリエルの鱒は全滅したと聞いてましたが、また再生したのかな。ずっと上流のダム下付近まで行くと３０、４０センチクラスも沢山いますよ。　ただし、夏場はガラガラヘビが出て来るので気を付けてね。

I can’t find the San Gabriel east fork on google maps is it the same thing as fish fork or iron fork ?

No it's called east fork of San Gabriel river..or just type in "bridge to nowhere"

I saw in your other videos you have a Calcutta BFS. How do you like the Daiwa SS air compared to the Calcutta? Considering a purchase on my end.

I say, Calcutta. The advantage of SS Air is super BFS, you really can cast very light lure. However, Calcutta has more reliability so that you can use for long time with less maintenances. I would bring Calcutta if I have to choose one.

Great video. I live nearby this area and will have to hike up there with my son. Normally we fish the Eastern Sierra mostly near the Upper Owens River. Do you think the trout you caught were stockers or wild?

Thank you for your comment. It was a few years ago I fished there, but they did not stock any. I think all trouts were wild. I hope that the river will have more wild trouts for future.

Hooray, the first one was pretty good size at WFSGR. Did you pass the first and second yellow bridge? Did you reach the first fishing platform? I will like to try there again in future, albeit the trouts are not big there.

Greg Sheu thank you. There is no water from hwy 2... so bad. The point I got them were way below the first bridge. We did not have bikes, so could not got far. I really want to try upper more next time.

So the Hwy 2 wasn't closed to Hwy 39? Hey, let's meet up there if we can next time. My buddy built his bike with a motorized engine to ride on that trail specifically for fishing at WFSGR. Google something like this "bicycle motor kit", otherwise to hike in there will take half a day.

The road was closed, you are right. I drove down to I-210 and headed to Azusa at that day. Yeah it is good idea to meet us up there. I will bring our bikes next time for sure.

Thank you for the comment, had a 50min to see the first water, 10min more walking to decide to go back. It took 1.5 hour to get back to the car. Yes, I will check the East Fork too.

@@Angler216 早速行ってきました。west forkは入れないようでしたのでeast forkへ。一匹だけですが小さなトラウトを釣ることができました！やはり水量は少ないですね🥲

Think its barb less fly fishing only there you should check the regs before you fish with lures.

Most protected streams in CA have an artificial lure with barbless hook restriction and some are artificial lures with single barbless hook restriction. West fork of the San Gabriel river is artificial + barbless so using a treble hook is allowed as long as it is barbless.
