Join me on my climb to San Gorgonio Mountain from Vivian Creek trailhead in 4k, filmed on May 18th, 2019. A 17 mile roundtrip with and elevation gain of around 5500 ft. A storm was expected in the evening, but the weather held through the day and made for some spectacular sights. The scenery on top of the mountain was like a winter wonderland, everything was covered in shiny beautiful ice crystals, glittering and reflecting in the sun. Make sure to watch the final ascent to the summit of the mountain where it is all captured in beautiful 4k resolution. Views from the top of San Gorgonio are stunning, with Mt San Jacinto, Mt Baldy, Joshua tree national park, Big Bear, the Mojave desert and many other peaks and places in plain sight. The summit of San Gorgonio Mountain sits at an elevation of 11506 ft, or just over 3500 meters, and is the highest peak in SoCal.

A very long hike to summit "Old Grayback" and back but well worth the effort. The views were spectacular. Thank you Jarl!

KZbin decided to recommend this video. I've never seen it, so this was cool! The San Berdoo's are amazing! This was in your pre-'on camera' days! It's great that you decided to be in your videos as well as POV's. It adds so much to the experience. Beautiful Jarl. Thank you! 😊🐝❤

I recommend taking the South Fork trail which starts near Jenks Lake. Its much longer but less steep.

I love the south fork trail, but have only made it as high as Dry Lake ( late spring, wasnt dry) My goal is to summit this year with an overnight at Dry Lake campsite for a fun weekend

Amazing shots! How long did the hike take? I’ve never done it in a day. What time did you start and end?

Darren Lanning thank you, I started around 7:30 and summited at noon, the roundtrip took me about seven and a half hours of walking, spent an hour at the summit. I have done it a little bit faster before but was spending a bit of time stopping and shooting video, which actually made the last stretch where you start feeling the altitude easier.

We lost the trail at the summit coming down with patches of snow. We ended up hiking down for 4 hours in pitch dark.
