I grew up at this flea market. My grandparents ran a houseplant stand there in the 70s and 80s and I helped out every weekend as a kid. I left San Jose decades ago but it’s sad to hear this place is closing.

Flea Market used to be fun and all day parking was $5.

Are you kidding, Parking on Saturday is $10, Sunday is $20. Walk-up/bicycles are $5 sat/sun

Flea market could be fan as was before, but American greed is involved, wherever run or owned the flea market they make their money long time ago and they only care for them selfes!! 😂😅😊❤

I grew up working at this flea market with my uncle. We had a Spanish music stand for years and it was such a wonderful community of vendors and the place to be after church. Sad to see people losing their livelihood and La Pulga overall.

My parents took us there back in the day my favorite was the warm fresh churros as you entered. This was the best.

Everything changes, and for the owners of the land they have every right to sell and go on with their lives. As to the small business vendors who rent space there, other opportunities might be available. The Hegenberger corridor has lots of vacant buildings and parking lot space, or there is the vacant Galleria in SF - also there is vacant space around Union Square. All are accessible by public transit too.

Why is the city/taxpayers responsible for helping the vendors relocate? Was it not enough the vendors never paid taxes on all their sales?

Well as a former vendor I can tell you they pay taxes. Its cute how you all want to bail out billionaires but not everyday people who add to the community and actually serve the community.

I think the lovely and open border supporting communities of Los Altos and Atherton should have no problems welcoming the flea market to their areas. Money shouldn't be a hindrance.

Good riddance. It’s not a flea market & hasn’t been for 20yrs. A flea market is people spreading a blanket on the floor & selling stuff they collected in their garages to rid of it. It isn’t resellers with 30 toasters!! It should not be a collection of husinesss. The only business is the business of the land owners to rent their property for weekend parcels to homeowners.

There is an east bay city where residents are 5th generation, and the young people still speak their native language - fluently I might add. English is actually their second language. It's a beautiful case of why diversity is good.
