The translation is simplified, the original lyrics are more powerful however it's really hard to translate them keeping the sense so I'd say the translation is pretty accurate. The song is in Polish. The style of the song is also old and artistic. We don't say "mamo tyś płakała" nowadays we'd rather say "mamo ty płakałaś" but it puts the song in a special style that makes it even better.

Translation into English, poorly portrays the suffering contained in the words. The song is not about Ukraine, but was created as a reaction to the war in Ukraine. I think this song is universal, it talks about the horrors of war, suffering, loss of loved ones and our powerlessness. It may as well speak of the current situation of people in Palestine, Syria or Afghanistan. Why do people keep hurting each other when we all want peace? Peace and Love✌️❤

Polacy dopiero niedawno zaleczyli powojenne rany, zburzoną stolicę, groby bliskich, a teraz znowu ... To samo czują Litwini, Czesi, Gruzini ... i inni sąsiedzi barbarzyńców. Chwała Ukrainie.

the song was written as a protest against the war and all the cruelty associated with it during the Warsaw Uprising. It has a universal character, no matter who it concerns, anywhere in the world, on any continent. This time Ukraine is experiencing it and that is why this cover of the song was created to protest against the war and to support all those people who were wronged there with the song. Greetings from Poland

I live in Poland, in Krakow. Every day, when I go to university, I see lots of Ukrainian women with children, every day I cry seeing the pain in their eyes, the longing for their husbands, the fear for their children, the fear for tomorrow. This song captures the feelings beautifully, but what is happening cannot be told or sung and like someone told yet, original lyric are more powerful.. Thank you for your reaction ❤️

Sanah: Tuck me in, tuck in My light eyes Waiting till I fall asleep Call for, call for Cry to heaven We need a miracle Take what you want Whatever, whatever you want Take it all Take it, take it and go away And that stress, the whole stress Take it with you I've had enough of tears Mom, you were crying Your eyes were wide open Did someone hurt you again? They struck a blow Men of steel They look into your eyes When you say "enough!" How will I defend you and on which side Am I supposed to stand on When there are hundreds of evil eyes My scream isn't enough Take me away mom Somewhere far away Far away from here Igor : I miss, I miss the years When they would tell us.. Today, today I want to scream from far away But my voice isn't working Take what you want Whatever, whatever you want Take it all Take it, take it and go away And that stress, the whole stress Take it with you I've had enough of tears Mom, you were crying Your eyes were wide open Did someone hurt you again? The song concerns the problem of war in general. It was written to commemorate the Warsaw Uprising of 1944 but still it so relevant to the situation in Ukraine. Polish are very empathis to Ukrainians because we understand their situation so well. We were attacked in 1939 by the Germans from the west, and just after 17 days by the Russians from the east. We've had to fight for aour country, language and coulture for so many times in our history. In this song there are all the emotions felt in the face of such an injustice which is war. People living in the western european countries will never understand those emotions ; fear, anger, sadness that carries the burden of beeing threatened by Russia all the time.

Hello dear Paul :) First of all TRULY BRAVO for you pronounciation in Polish of the title of the song. I was VERY impressed, though I still think that you have Polish accent when you speak English what makes me very easy to understand what you say. You DEFINITELY do not have Brazilian accent LOL. I wanted to write that I got chills listening to this song, Melody is very traditional Slavic (both Polish and Ukrainians are Slavic, our languages are very similar), lyrics are truly powerful and there is a lot of emotions when they sing. I guess this song sounds different for you being Brazilian in UK and for us Poles in the neighbouring country. We truly know how war feels, there are stories in our families from second world war. In mine too. And when I see and hear about killing of ordinary people living in settlements just like mine and about killing of kids I am reminded of one please that we have in mine city called The Broken Heart Park with the Broken heart Monument. In Lodz we have a camp where all the kids from whole Europe were sent during second world war and there they died from hard work and hunger :( So war for us feels so real and then I witness how history is repeating itself :( Of course I do not want bombs falling here where I live, because simply I have no way to go I was born here, as were my parents and grandparents. I wake up every single day and check if the world outside my window exists. I am scared it may stop. Thank you Paul for reacting to this song. I hope you will read my comment. Karolina
