and IF (hopefully) the actual oil pumping areas grind to a halt and thus the lines cannot be maintained (there is a complex process involved that often becomes impossible when pumping must stop for an extended time (even just weeks or months can cause severe damage costing hunreds of billions to repair and can ONLY BE DONE BY WESTERN COMPANIES! That is what happened to Ru in the '90 s, some of those damaged lines didn't get up and running until very recently !! It took thirty years to 100% fully repair what was damaged in a mere year or two of non pumping, upon the 'temporary' stoppages of pumping when the Ussr folded. And Ussr was a lot less careless than today's Russia/russians. Russians are not the organized ppl that everyone seems to think. They and their ussr are/were profoundly 'not organized' or not competent is how we think of it.

Maybe not an alliance, but the same response to further sanctions. These two countries are not friends, have conflicting interests and objectives but they have both tried to get the benefits of cheap russian fuel whilst keeping the benefits of open trade with the west. Both have had to decide which side to choose and both have realised that the days of duplicity are numbered.

Sadly, the Earth's climate is suffering greatly because of the war. The climate crisis has been temporarily abandoned. Thank you Anna! I never understood why those rust bucket Russian tankers were not seized when they enter another country's maritime border. They are unseaworthy vessels that pose a serious risk of a huge oil spill. Secondly, they are not registered as Russian flagged, so who is going to protest boarding those ships? The crews are just sacrificial, they come from desperately poor countries and are ill-paid or not paid at all. The tankers are not insured and the ship's owners hide behind paper companies. Economic collapse of the ruble is certain if Trump does not ease sanctions (putin is desperate for this). If the ruble collapses, so will putin. If putin falls it's over. My fear is that putin will offer a deal that he knows cannot be accepted by Ukraine. Trump will push it hard in a bid to make himself look good quickly. When Ukraine refuses, Trump will walk away and blame Zelenskyy. Trump might also be stupid enough to lift sanctions while 'peace talks' get underway. russia will drag these out for a year to rebuild. That's my fear.
