It makes me sad to see that so many people disliked Welcome the Night. In my opinion, it's the best album I ever bought. And then So Long, Astoria. :]

Right ?!? For me this and so long Astoria (sorry I can’t chose between them ) are the best ever are really great and I don’t understand neither why people seemed to dislike this album even some critic (rolling stones magazine) disliked it so much for me it’s super deep, great lyrics and more more mature.

this reminds me of somebody i know, he's always there for people, but in return they always seem to forget him. even though he's such a good guy, i bet he feels like this all the time. anywayz, great song :)

For those who love to hate Welcome the Night, when (before) did Kris Roe ever write a more profound, complete song than this? Never---although the entire album is full of songs just like this one. It's easily his best work, and probably one of the top five albums of this decade. Everyone apparently "missed the point" of this album; it's not intended to confirm values---it's a gloomy, introspective work which brilliantly illustrates life in all of its ecstasies and agonies. So genuine.

I got into the ataris around “blue skies” and loved everything they did. When this came out, I admit I hated it at first. Then about 2 or 3 weeks after listening to it a few more times, this song absolutely broke me. While I love early ataris, this song is by far my favorite thing written by kris.I visit this album more now than any of his other works. So damn underrated.

The Ataris have finally released an album that's consistently excellent from start to finish and I for one salute them for it. Anybody who doesn't get just hasn't grown with the band and is no loss anyway. Genuinely think it's one of the best albums I've heard this side of the millenium and their besy yet and I say that as somebody who's been following them from the beginning.

Unbelievable song coming off of what will be by far Kris Roe's greatest work. Nothing else he ever has done even compares to Welcome The Night; landmark album.

I think welcome the night is genius and really shows off how Kris Roe & the band have really evolved as a song writers. I love the old stuff too but this really lets the world know that they're more then just "pop-punk/emo" or whatever. That being said, so long astoria and this album rule.

It IS their best album by a long shot...and that says a lot, because everything Kris Roe has ever recorded is excellent. I cannot conceive how it wasn't received well critically---if any other band releases this exact same record (for example, The Killers), it's a four-and-a-half star album. Unfair bias against bands derived from the old-school pop punk scene.

sounds weird.. the voice its like the guy from "The cure" i miss So long astoria, one of my favourites albums, mejor en español jaja prefiero el disco anterior todas las canciones tenian un sentido pero mi preferida era Looking back on today, me gustaba su mensaje de recordar un viejo amor... I hope the next album will be as a good as So long... y mas aun deseo escucharlos live algun dia, bye people

I do agree that this new album isn't as good as So Long Astoria, which to me, is the best album I've ever had. Nothing beats So Long Astoria. But anyway, not as good doesn't mean that this new one is bad, only because So Long Astoria was phenomenal. I think Kris should had just kept his original voice. Other than that, there are good songs in this new albums too. My favourite is Begin at the Begining.

It's not the same as their old stuff, but it does not mean its not good. Variation is something that everyone must adapt to. Good musicians are not suppose to play the same shit and same sound over and over. If he's being true to who he really is and how he feels, who the fuck cares.

Better than so Long Astoria, not as good as blue skies, anywhere but here, and end is forever. Ataris where punk rock they where never pop punk. Kris a legend, best song writer ever to walk this earth, but I know hes grown up from his punk days. Just try not to forget your old school fans when you play your gigs. Anyone wanna enlighten me on why kris is playing a left guitar the correct way instead of a righty the wrong way?

his voice used to be so good, now he synthed it all up and changed to an emo tone. In my opinion they sold out to mainstream style with the emo-craze. This is a sad perversion of kris roe's previous genius. long live so long, astoria

I have absolutely nothing against they changing their style... but at least they could keep roe's voice... he's... singing in a different way... his voice just sounds different and his voice was the second thing I liked the most about ataris, the first one is theyr lirics I saw them live playing the new album and they sound great... but here I hear so many effects over his voice... I simply didn't like it after edited

You mean teenage girls who shop at hot topic and will dump the Ataris like a bad habbit when the next big thing comes out? Its good for bands to change up their sound or to grow and mature, but to totally change your sound and alienate your core fans is a bad place you don't want to go.

Shittiest use of computer effects I've ever seen. That being said, the song isn't super terrible, just, The Ataris have become a regular emo band. This isn't stand out music. And personally, I was never fond of the old stuff. Blue Skies was decent. The only album I really liked was So Long, Astoria. Because it was beautiful. I have a feeling this CD won't be great.
