Sandbanks might be posh and expensive now, but wait for a few more years when sea waters rise and coastal erosion gets worse. You can sit back and be thankful you're in Blackpool. :)

Sea waters are not sure to rise anytime soon despite what they tell you if Obama bought a multi million dollar retirement house on a beach. The sand eroding might happen though.

Had many holidays in Swanage in 60s and 70s, used to visit sandbanks before it was posh. The old bungalow is typical of the properties there then, before all the money moved in. Remember the chain ferry, think there is a naturist beach around there too.

Awesome video vlog Stephen such a great high profile area. Walk With Me Tim did this last summer and we were blown away by it. I think one million will only just get you a one bed apartment down there, ridiculous money. Probably ten million for some of those mansions you were showing. It’s a Wetherspoon for me any day over Rick Stein’s place. Maybe if my lottery numbers come up I’ll get myself a beach hut down there, lol🤣🤪👌

Even though we live here, your video was still interesting to watch 👍👍👍 We moved here from Surrey, a few years ago, and found the people here much more friendly. Also, we’ve not met a single resident who doesn’t consider themselves very, very fortunate to live here. PS The block of flats with the underground car park was the Redknapp’s until 2021.

One thing that did surprise me was seeing a experience motor that must have been seized by the police and awaiting recovery due to having a no insurance no car sticker on it . I was actually looking at prices last week for houses down there one that caught my eyes was a mere 5/6 million 😂 if I was lucky enough to win the euro millions I’d be straight on the phone to the estate agents down there.

My local when I was in my teens and early twenties was the Sandacres, down on the corner of Shore Road. Sadly it's now a Tesco Express :(
@VincentComet-l8e5 ай бұрын
Yes, indeed. But I believe it’s the case that decades ago, certainly pre-war, the area was mainly little holiday shacks and chalets. Some possibly made from old railway carriages, as was the custom in those days. Would be interesting to see old pictures from that time…

A few of the original little houses are left, but one by one they are disappearing - presumably as their owners pass on, and the plots get snapped by greedy developers. Even the beloved Haven Hotel (next to the Sandbanks Ferry) where Marconi lived for many years whilst conducting his wireless experiments isn't safe. A local property tycoon wants to turn it into a huge apartment complex.

Alan Price did a one man show at the Grand a few years ago. One of the questions he gets asked, is why do him and Georgie Fame not work together any more? He said, that when Georgie was making shed loads of money in the sixties, his financial advisor told him it would be a good idea to invest in a strip of land at Poole, called Sandbanks! Hence Georgie's lack of need for work.

I know this is a regular English expression, but if half the country was doing as well as Sandbanks, we would be doing OK as a society. I presume owners of these sea frontages (there were Beatle connections, I believe) have no fear for rising sea levels. Either that or they feel no pain in losing several £million in real estate.
@xr6lad2 жыл бұрын
Why would they fear rising seas. Obama doesn’t and he brought a beach front property in the U.S..
