This is great. The 1st instrument I built I deliberately left a "mark" from the maple in the headstock, for this very same reason, it's part of the wood, it's not a crack, and it gives character. Also it's a perfect way to avoid throwing away perfectly good wood pieces just because there's a cosmetic "flaw"
