Love coming home after my league fixture on a Saturday and watching/following the boys. It seems such an amazing club with fantastic facilities! I've watched every single upload several times Tyler and Shareef are very gifted batsmen and time the ball perfectly they should be averaging 40-50 easily per game and even more in the Dev games. I think they'll be kicking themselves every week with their dismissals this year! Never seen a guy like Simon to get so much swing on a ball when he can get the ball working?! Jacko looks a very decent all rounder. Brilliant footage and great commentary :-) Elliot from Kent.

Excellent game and video. The footage is getting better and the regular score updates definitely enhance it. Sanderstead appeared to win this through far superior running between the wickets. Even just from the footage shown there were so many well taken singles and 1s turned in to 2s. The difference in a close game. Also, congrats on reaching the 2k subs.

Shyam Kotecha you are not alone. Many people feel irrational anxieties, and not just in cricket. Most clubs are supportive and understand that some of us have a fear of messing up - you could ask to field “out of the way” initially, or maybe do extra fielding practice to build confidence. Remember that the anxiety is not really based on anything real - what’s the worse that can happen? Worse would be to not give it a go and have the regret. Also recommend you watch the Sky Sports series called MindGames about how our minds can prevent even the best sportsmen from achieving their potential. We hope to feature a video on these issues at some point. Good luck!

It’s great fun - and you are right that recreational cricket can give so much more pleasure and community value than league stuff. You can find a link to all the gear in the description section beneath each video - but I do use a tripod, it is essential. The early games were handheld and suffered for it. Mainly because it is a small ground! However, the telephoto lens does make it look smaller than it is. Straight boundaries are about 55yds, and square is about 65-70yds. It produces great games of cricket.

Correct - it is a 100 over game, with the side batting first allowed a max of 55. Not the best format, but it sort of works with the bonus points available

Im studying in the uk as a student I want to play County Cricket, if i play for your Club or any other club would i be able to make it to county Cricket(i hold an Indian passport and im in the uk on a student visa)

Hi - it's not easy as most counties have a huge network of scouts and there is also well-structured league cricket which enables counties to observe how multiple players perform. As an example, we had an overseas player from Pakistan for many years - he plays first class cricket in Pakistan and plays for Pakistan A - yet he couldn't attract the attention of any counties despite scoring hundreds of runs each season. Maybe if you could get an overseas pro position with a premiership side you may have a better chance - but unlikely to get noticed at Div 2 club like Sanderstead. Good luck though.....

Hi G G - thanks for your question. This is serious cricket, but Sanderstead do play it with a real sense of fun. We play in Div 2 of the Surrey Championship League, which is the top league in Surrey. There are 10 teams in each division, so we are technically in the top 30 teams in Surrey. Most teams in the top divisions have an overseas professional and the odd ex- or current county player (when not on Surrey duty). For example, Surrey county players Ollie Pope, Amir Virdi, Freddie van den Burgh, Ryan Patel, Will Jacks etc played their league cricket in the Surrey Championship and will still play the odd game for their clubs. Hope this helps.....
