When I joined the Navy in 1963 my first duty station was Miramar Naval Air Station. I soon discovered Balboa Park and fell in love with it. With my first look at the beautiful Spanish architecture and the majestic eucalyptus trees I knew right away I could never go back to my home in Long Island NY. I have been a Californian ever since and the beauty and magic of San Diego has always been in my heart.

Thank you so much. I love Balboa Park and Old Town San Diego. We must continue to preserve these jewels for future generations to enjoy. I definitely need to get out and see more of San Diego. That is the main reason I moved here. Totally awesome video and thanks for sharing!!! A MUST-WATCH!!!!

Been going to Balboa Park since the early 60s. It truly is a Jewel in the City. So many birthdays, weddings, special events, cross country meets, and of course many visits to the World Famous San Diego Zoo in my 61 years of life. So much to see and do, that it can take multiple days to really experience all there is in the Park.

Balboa Park is amazing.. it's a diverse place to see many different type of homeless....... You have out of their mind drugged crazed homeless and then your standard crazy homeless, leaders in San Diego need to do something about this!!!!!!

My then-girlfriend now Awesome Wife and I traveled to San Diego in the early 2000s. Balboa was one of my favorite visits much like the Longwood Gardens and Dupont Estates on the East Coast where I am from but only better due to the wide array of the museums. If I could afford it and was forced to relocate San Diego would no doubt be my number one choice, what a beautiful area. I would probably spend a lot of time on La Jolla eating fish tacos that's for sure!

Nice place to walk around. Balboa Park. Went to the Cherry Blossom festival at the Japanese house. I have gone there for a few year. And I am watching this video dated 2015, in 2022 The Hall of Champion is now closed and replaced by Comic Con museum. It wasn't that popular in its final few years.

Extremely interesting, but why have such loud background music? It is very annoying and for the hard of hearing it must be quite terrible.
@timothyosborn16974 жыл бұрын
Beautiful. I just want to know how Balboa Park has an area of 1,875 sq miles (3:14 on video)? I believe it's more like 1.875 sq miles. The comma should be replaced by a period (just saying).
@sandiego4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The producers of the documentary used the decimal comma (common in Europe) instead of the decimal point. So you are correct that the park is 1.875 sq miles.

I love San Diego and especially Balboa Park but seriously, this video needs a serious re-mix. The music is way to loud and covers the interesting commentary. Well, 6 years later, it's too bad that won't happen.

What an annoying video… epic fail, which is a darned shame because Balboa Park is indeed a gem. The content was great. SO much history and lots of good current facts (well not current anymore, since this is a few years old). BUT the musical soundtrack was much too loud, often drowning out the narration (which in itself could have been far more engaging, in timing, emphasis, inflection). The narration was also much too fast, but presumably that is because the poor narrator was forced into a 1/2 hour time slot. The video could well have been at least an hour. The fascinating historic photos flashed by much too quickly. I hope the history center will consider making a new, updated, video soon. Ditch the music.
