The Big Dump is a film centered around the worst environmental crisis in the history of the United States.
The sewage spill from Mexico into San Diego is a significant environmental issue that has been ongoing for almost 90 years. The source of the sewage spill is the Tijuana River, which flows through Mexico and into California, eventually emptying into our Pacific Ocean.
The leading cause of the sewage spill is a combination of outdated infrastructure and the buildup of debris in the Tijuana River, such as trash and sediment. An increase in population within the Tijuana Valley is also grounds for the increased sewage. During heavy rainfall or storms, the river overflows, releasing 250,000,000 gallons of untreated sewage into the ocean, specifically affecting the coastline of San Diego.
The sewage spill poses numerous health and environmental hazards. The untreated sewage contains harmful bacteria, viruses, and toxins that threaten marine life, pets, and humans.
The pollution negatively impacts the fragile coastal ecosystem, leading to the loss of marine biodiversity and water quality degradation. The airborne bacteria find this way into the lungs of the West Coast, consistently leading to serious illnesses.
It is time to turn this crisis over to the people. It is up to all of us to protect our environment. This film would also help the city of Tijuana, Mexico, residents live healthier and more sanitary life. It is our duty as human beings to save this planet. Every citizen of the United States of America has a stake in the Pacific Ocean.
We need your help with this film to address and find a solution to this crisis.
Efforts to address the sewage spill and prevent further damage have been initiated by the Mexican and U.S. governments, local organizations, and activists. However, the situation is only getting worse.
The sewage spill in Mexico, flowing into San Diego, is a pressing problem that demands immediate attention and urgent action to safeguard the ecosystem's health and protect the coastal communities that rely on clean and safe waters.
This is a Call to Action for those in a place of wealth. The people have to rise!!!
For those who donate $500 or more will be honored by adding your name to the Film’s credits for becoming one of our environmental partners.
Solutions include improving sewage infrastructure, implementing better wastewater treatment systems, and increasing collaboration between the two countries to tackle the issue jointly.

I live in Imperial Beach and I am literally severely sick in bed as I watch this video. It disgusts me that my 3 young children, my wife, and my community have to live like this. We have suffered for years. My kids have had a cough for over 3 years each!!! I feel as though I have failed them as a parent and I was just trying to give them a good childhood by the beach in SoCal. 😢😢😢

I grew up ❤ in the South Bay However, now me and my family live in California's Central Valley, but we know San Diego and TJ very well. 90% of our family still live in the South Bay and we visit very often. It's very sad that this has been happening for decades. The politicians on both sides have failed us. They do not care about the common folks.

Well, now I know more about the issue, but also understood that basically beside the fact that elected officials have been notified nothing is been done. TJ has to find a way to put in a treatment plant, but unfortunately knowing how south of the border operates, realistically it will mot happen. BC they need an incentive to do so.

Why? Because people still going to force their way through living there. So there's no incentive for them to spend any money on that at all.

Why not build a sewage treatment plant. You know where the problem is so why not treat it there?

I don’t eat fish and if I do, it’s like once in the blue crayfish oysters as much as I love it you need to stop eating fish and leave it for the countries that need the fish to live and survive like the islands. Sad to say, but they need to fish to survive, we take the fish for pleasure. We don’t need it to survive people on the main island. Don’t need it. Give back to the planet stop eating stuff for at least two years and see how big of a difference the corporation of the fishing industry I’m not saying not to eat the fish, just give them a break❤
