I do not play 40k, other than space marine, but I am ABSOLUTELY obsessed with its lore because of how in depth it is. Also the fact that it’s just batshit insanity to the max. It is truly a product of madness
@DeathBYDesign666 Жыл бұрын
It has aspects of just about every other sci-fi and fantasy franchise out there, you name it and they have something like it. It started out as basically D&D in space and it has added pretty much every concept in science fiction since. I'm finding that I am actually more knowledgeable than some hardcore Warhammer fans just because of my own insight into the lore online. Some seem to be dedicated gamers and not necessarily lore collectors. They'll dedicate to one faction and stick mostly to that.
@DeathBYDesign666 Жыл бұрын
If I was to choose a faction I would go with Rogual Dorn and the Imperial Fists chapter, but you also have Rouboute Guilleman and the Iron Hands so it gets confusing at times trying to differentiate between them. I am sure I am butchering the names btw but they are wacky and extremely pretentious sounding to be fair. The Imperial fists have the biggest and best ship in the fleet and they are currently shadowing a craft world that would likely dwarf it. It might be half the size of the mainland united States but a craft world is the size of all of Eurasia, which is about 10 times the surface area. That's like semi expert level lore there btw, it's amazing what you can dig up just on KZbin.
@alfredandersson8759 ай бұрын
@@DeathBYDesign666 I am sorry to doubt your knowledge but seeing as you attribute the Iron Hands to Roboute Guilliman when their primarch is in fact the dead Ferrus Manus (famously killed during the dropsite massacre), it seems lacking. Roboute Guilliman is, rather infamously, primarch of the Ultramarines, rather easy to remember since he was found within the Ultramar sub-sector, where he was resting for 10000 years until his resurrection.
@DeathBYDesign6669 ай бұрын
@@alfredandersson875 I have focused on mostly background lore for most of the Warhammer franchise honestly, I do often get confused iron hands, imperial fists and so on. I have learned a little more since though so I don't mind your criticism that much. There is more to cover in this narrative than I had originally thought but somehow it's becoming simpler to understand the more you know. This is a weird setting when you think about it.

From what I can gather, not much is known what the Cacodominus is. A theory I have is that it’s similar to the Emperor in how they both came to be. That they are the culmination of many Psykers formed into one very powerful being.

@AveSicarius Жыл бұрын
@@ianbahamonde6679 I think Him being a DAoT weapon makes much more sense than a War in Heaven weapon. Like, He wouldn't look like a human for one, but also He's just not as well built as the peak Aeldari or Krork (not saying He's not strong, but before Moloch the Emperor was much more in line with Aeldari like Eldrad apparently, more capable of brute force, but not so vastly superior as He was when He left the Daemongate). The DAoT human civilization could engineer Alpha level Psykers seemingly, and had also mastered genetic engineering (all the Emperor does is based on this, and is a more primitive version, the Men of Gold would probably make the Custodes look like children) so making a Superpsyker Perpetual would probably be very much a possibility. I quite like the idea that much like the Primarch's are Artificial Perpetuals, the Emperor, and perhaps the Man of Gold as a whole, was an upgrade on the natural Perpetuals. The DAoT figured out the Psyker Gene and the means to protect themselves from the Warp in various ways (they didn't have the same knowledge of what was actually in there as the Aeldari though). I think it makes more sense for the Emperor to base the Primarch's and Astartes on His own Genome if He Himself is the result of a forced evolutionary program. Given that Erda has known Him for a while, but the rest of the Perpetuals don't really know much about Him, it could be that She had a hand in His creation (or at least in changing the Emperor from a normal Perpetual to a superpowered one).

I like to think of the Cacodominis as what it was meant to be: vague, old, and foreign, knowledgeable. There were other races before the war in heaven, they saw the rise and fall of the Eldar, and rise and fall of man. My Theory is that this xenos pledged himself to Tzench and somehow escaped the sight and fate of his God to gain more power. Millennia later he reawakens ready to excise his plan: controlling the power of free will and destiny

The theory part of the great rift is more or less the going narrative, pretty much every book since gullimans return has had a reference to the great rift that splits the galaxy apart. Even having the 2 seperate names for the imperium, nihalus and Sanctus. In saying that, with the recent return of the lion I will agree the book itself and the lore surrounding it has left some questions. Namely, how did the chaos forces, who communicate with abandon not know of gullimans return, assuming we follow the timeline of devesation of ball taking place 70 years after his return, it’s unusual that a petty decent sized chaos force doesn’t know that Cadia fell, gulliman returned and that the great rift was a result of that. Also the necrons return was severely downplayed and it feels like they’re reusing the whole hive fleet leviathan theme as well.

My experience with 40k are video games and youtube videos. There are so many books, so many stories, I have money to spend and I spend none of it on books because it's so daunting. Loads of people say to start with horus heresy which I have, just a few days ago I started listening to Horus Rising. But here is the problem, even in horus rising there are still aspects where I have to stop and google because Idk what they are saying. 40k is huge, it's an awesome story to follow. I do wish that some of the tidbits were not hidden behind table top elements. I'm not the type to purchase mini's, cause they will just end up in the trash after collecting dust for a decade. I don't really want to buy rulebooks either. Tis a shame, with all that said. Thank you for your videos. While they tend to leave me with more questions than answers it's still great to get people like you who drop the knowledge that is hidden behind a purchase that is mostly a waste for me.
