I find when I lock in the legs - they seems loose in the direction towards the center. Do I need to take an Allen key and make sure all screws are tight?

Yes, if the legs get loose you can use an allen key to tighten it.

The adjustment screw that is under the ball head controls the fluid head of the tripod. Loosening the screw allows the head of the tripod to be smoothly panned left or right when filming with your iPhone. Ensuring cinematic movement without shaking.
