Hi Everyone! In this video I'm sharing a look at the food options at Sandos Caracol Eco Resort. We stayed at this resort for a week and were able to try all of the restaurants that were open. Make sure if you're vacationing here that you book your reservations for all of your restaurants on your first day to ensure you get good dining times!

It does not but are very useful when a place is new to me, anyway if ayer a visit I personally find the food bad, is very unlikely I would be back, I’ll be there next week and will update you, the reason why I don’t go totally with reviews is because eating is more like watching art whatever you find bad I may find it good.

i visited the resort the week of dec12 to dec 18 had amazing time all the personal working there were very helpful, one down side the red meet was not all the good! but overall is a beautiful place.

Although a lot of the restaurants seemed a bit disappointing, I’m glad you still managed to find some yummy food...Mexican is always a good option...tacos 🤤🤤 We would also have tried the food vendors, especially the crepes, sounds delicious!

Great reviews as always! Bummer that some of the food was disappointing! I can see how resort buffets can be really hit or miss. Glad you were able to find some delicious options in between though. So many options for food there!

Sounds like Alan likes breakfasts like April does! Wayne misses all the breakfast beans we had in Guatemala! We really dislike buffets, in large part because of the barely lukewarm temps. Yummm, shrimp tacos! You should have guacamole at every corner of a resort in Mexico! That salad at 9:27 has April's name written all over it! Wayne wants to eat that at 12:21! We can tell how this is not the place to go for a foodie experience...

This is a great, honest food review. I think it will be very helpful to those considering booking this resort. Ok, now to my food reactions LOL Whaaat, out of bacon somedays and only a few options for guacamole? How did you survive? 😆 just kidding, it seemed that you were able to find some good options. I think I would have stayed clear of Salvia Snack Bar too. How disappointing when expecting options like steak, and only finding nachos, hot dogs and hamburgers 😔 La Riveria tacos looked reallllyy good. I think we would was to try Los Lirios. We can't pass up a good empanada...and that first steak of Alan's was huge! I really like that they had vendors onsite....I definitely would have given in and tried a crepe too :)

I wad a little bit surprised that there was no bacon at the buffet! And it was so hard to find guac - such an interesting experience re: the food. But gotta keep it real so that other people know what to expect.

My family went to Sandos Caracol in April {2021). The resort was great, but the food was hands-down the most disappointing of any resort I've ever visited. We checked out Sandos PLAYACAR for a day, and the food was MUCH better there.

I agree about the most disappointing food - if you've ever been to Cuba it's on par with their buffets... I had clients go to Playacar and they said it wasn't much better.

that's a great video, and much needed for those thinking about staying here.. I've been numerous times, and my overall thoughts are the buffet and room service are not very good, and dinner at the al la carte restaurants are okay and acceptable. You really need to stay here Adults or RE to get the restaurant for breakfast and lunch, otherwise, it's pretty tough... Once again, Great video !

Hi. I love your review. Could you tell me how bad the mosquitoes were? Heard some mixed reviews about. Also what time of year were you there?

Thanks! The mosquitoes weren't too bad when we were on the main roads or by the beach/pools...when we were walking through the swampy areas or going to the animal areas/cenotes they were worse. My husband had quite a few bites after the trip because mosquitoes love him. Definitely bring some good bug spray just in case. We were there the first week of October last year.

It may he possible to upgrade at the resort. They had a price list for different upgrades when we checked in.

They are included, usually they’re May be a couple items you need to pay for (lobster) but I personally don’t know anybody that has pay, I always leave a couple bucks to the waiter every meal and try to seat with the same one every time if he/she is good, they learn what you like pretty fast and give you a couple surprises.

We are considering going here, but want to make sure the restaurants are kid friendly. Not by food options but if kids are allowed. Lol. I don't have picky eaters.

Kids were allowed at all restaurants except the adults only select club restaurant for breakfast and lunch by the adults pool. I believe there were no restrictions on dinner.

I'm going to this resort in a couple of months and was wondering, for people that don't have the club select '' privilege '' do they need to pay each time they want to try one of the restaurant? I checked on the website of the hotel and saw their multiple menus but no prices related to them. Just curious!! Thanks btw for those videos, it really helps! :)

No you don’t, the only limitation is that you may have restrictions to get in two of them, but the rest is included

Hi there, just stumbled on your channel when looking for reviews on this hotel. We have had this resort booked for 2 years but due to covid have not been able to go until this year in July. We have been looking at the reviews and quite a few people have said that they have become ill from eating the food there. So now my partner is becoming quite concerned that her holiday is going to be ruined by being ill. Was the food as bad as people are saying and should we look at some other resort if this is the case?

We didn't get sick from anything we ate while we were there. We went during covid so the quality and selection just wasn't great but there was always something we liked to eat. And my husband has a sensitive stomach, so even with that we was ok. It really just depends what you like and what you're expecting for food... if you are foodies, I wouldn't recommend this resort.

I'm curious if you noticed if they had many vegan options at the buffet (other than just fruit and veg)? If so, if things were clearly marked. We have two vegan kids and we are just trying to find somewhere with some basics like black bean tacos, veggie sushi, waffles, pancakes, pasta, veggie burgers,...

I don't recall specifically if they had things marked at the buffet. The video included a look at some of the buffet food but it was slightly different each day. At the a la carte restaurants they definitely had a vegan section on the menu. Are you in the Sandos FB group? You could also ask there as I there were a few posts on vegan/vegetarian questions.

If you want vegan food options you probable want to check Principe Bahia/Akumal/Coba they have vegan options table every time and is good

The food choices look really varied here, really wish I hadn't watched this while being hungry, now craving pretty much everything you showed😂 Think you were probably wise to avoid those burgers at the snack bar though, sounds dodgy that they were left out raw in the sun. Seems like the restaurants were a little hit and miss but it looks like if you make the right choices there's some good food options.

Yes definitely a hit or miss type of resort for food. So dodgy about the hamburgers!! We were able to find something good every day - just didn't overeat lol which is probably a good thing!!

Buffet at big resorts are bland. The onky one we enjoyed was the 5 star Resort Barcelo Palace. The buffet was amazing and the special restaurant were all five stars. All other resorts we tried was meh. Smaller resort with 100 rooms and less have 10 times better food since they cook for a smaller crowd and make everything fresh. We avoid big resorts for a reason now.

Luke warm food and questionable hamburger food safety standards....That doesn't sound to appetizing. I would be skipping the snack bar as well! A la carte seems to be the way to go!

The food here was not to my standards. Avoid the buffets. By the second day, I got desperate and took taxi downtown to eat at an authentic taqueria. Ended up bringing some tortas back to throw in the fridge. Even the Mexican food was lacking. How do you get that wrong? Flavorless. This is a great resort for the kids, but even they were complaining about the taste of things. Plus they had difficulty accommodating things like making a quesadilla because they didn’t have the right cheese…bruh!

Yeah we weren't big fans of the food. We were able to find some things so we didn't go hungry... but we had higher expectations as well. Los Lobos was pretty good and we liked the Select Club breakfast and lunch options.

@@TheAverageTourist I thought it was just me being picky. But I found complaints going back to 2013. Same issues. We went to the sister report - Sandos Playacar and they had wonderful food. I found out that the eco resort uses ONE kitchen for all the restaurants except for the Brazilian, Japanese and the one by the Elite pool. They cook in bulk and truck it around on the pathways behind the restaurants. The Mexican restaurant gets served first, the International Last. Odd, but they don't seem to care. I was watching your other videos. The beach is now totally gone at Sandos Caracol too. Its apocalyptic and dangerous with 4.5ft high drop offs from the beach showers.
