I’ve always used fixed 5 or 7 pins but this is pretty neat. I exclusively hunt elk and mule deer in my state . It’s a spot and stalk always never sitting in a stand or blind my question is would you recommend this for my application? All the bulls I’ve taken have been 30 yards and mule deer 50-65 yards . When you dial the sight at longer distances is the 2nd pin gonna be useable at always the “ 15 yard” difference from the top pin? Example top pin is set to 60 then would the bottom be at 75 and be accurate?

On a 3 pin horizontal, like an ascent verdict, why wouldn't you dial it up all the way to sight in? Basically giving a stopping point back to 20 without looking.

Typically your bottom pin "40 yards" becomes the floater pin with the single indicator. If you run your sight flush to start you can dial the sight up or down, giving you an exact yardage to shoot. Say you have a 3d target at 27 yards and don't want to pin gap, you can dial up and use your bottom pin and indicator at 27 to shoot that exact distance. If i did this setup, got my 60 yard groupings within 1 inch around the target. but when i go down to shoot 40 yards my groupings are all about 3-4 inches high. would that mean my fps sticker is incorrect? the 20 and 60 lined up great

So that pin gap is going to stay shooting 15 yards difference no matter what distance? Say the first indicator is dialed down to 40 and so the second pin is on 55? Still going to hit the same as they were at 20 and 35?

The pin gap in the default position at 20 yards is15 yards leaving the second pin at 35. As you dial down to longer distances the pin gap shortens because the yardage on the tape starts to spread the further you get out. So for reference, at 70 yards with the top pointer the pin gap reduces to 11 or 12 yards leaving the bottom pin and indicator shooting at 81-82 yards. Hope that helps.

The housing is different on both sights. Unfortunately. The pins are seated differently, I suppose you might be able to drill and tap new threads to accommodate the dual pins but I think that it could be very difficult.

You could however use a silver sharpie or glo in the dark sight paint to make a second down below on your single pin. Won’t be adjustable but would give you a second distance and you could gap shoot if needed.

Why do you lower the 2nd pin all the way down? I’m just curious? If all the way down is the place it has to be then why is there adjustment to it?

You don't have to lower it all the way down. I like the largest pin gap I can get for my setup, typically because most of my shots are within 20-40 yards. For my bow I'm able to get 40 yards on the bottom pin so when I pull up on an elk I'm basically covered. If I was to set it up at 20-30 yards I'd have to know the drop at 40 if I didn't have time to dial. I've just found that most of my elk encounters seem to fall near 40 yards, so I like having a pin to shoot off of.

You would want to level the the sight "default position" on horizontal pinned sights. Mainly because the pin on the dual trac is lower in the housing. Multi pin horizontal sights, the indicator is typically set off of one of the lower pins. An advantage to having the sight level is the ability to dial up towards closer distances. With the dual trac we have a top indicator for the top pin and one for the bottom pin. So really there is no need to dial up to closer distances.
