@@BackwoodsPursuit Thanks for the reply! I haven't actually done the sight tape selection yet, I should have watched this video before sighting in the rest of my pins! What if you don’t have a 60 yd target? My club has a fifty not Sixty
@BackwoodsPursuit2 жыл бұрын
Hey Christa! You can still do it at 20 and 50yds, but just can't use the calibration tape that Spot Hogg provided. Just use a blank white label and put it in there, sight in at 20, then sight the same pin in at 50yds (doesn't matter which pin), and then find the sight tape that matches your 20 / 50yd pin gap(on the dial). Might not be quite as accurate as doing 20 and 60yds, but it'll still be very very close

@@BackwoodsPursuit so I went and sited in my 20 yd pin. I used the top pin. Once I have correct tape will bottom pin be 30 yds? Is that how it works? So when I’m hunting I won’t need to turn the dial to 30yds when I go to shoot a deer?
@BackwoodsPursuit2 жыл бұрын
@@christaluongo8919 how many pins does your sight have? If it's a 3 pin, your top would be 20, 2md would be 30, and 3rs would be 40, so anything past 40 would be what you use the dial for. Does that make sense?
@christaluongo89192 жыл бұрын
@@BackwoodsPursuit yes. I have a 2 pin site. I have a tape on it now but it needs adjustment. I went up on my draw weight to 45lbs from 40.

@@christaluongo8919 awe... gotcha. Yes, so your pins will be 20 and 30yds then, and anything over 30yds you would dial using your bottom pin.

Black gold or spot hogg? Which do you like the best?
@BackwoodsPursuit4 жыл бұрын
That's a tough question as I like different things about each of them. I prefer the smoothness of the dial on the Spot Hogg, but the location of the sight tape on the Black Gold. I like the smaller sight housing of the Black Gold but the MRT system is pretty nice too. The Spot Hogg seems like it's more durable, but it's also a bit heavier. I'd give the edge to Black Gold on the pins as well, but just barley. At the end of the day I lean toward the Black Gold (between the ones I've tested), but they are both excellent sights!

@BackwoodsPursuit3 жыл бұрын
Good question! You can make your own tape(add a white label) below the 100yd mark and then make you own custom marks for 105, 110 etc if you have enough arrow clearance.

We need more detailed instruction on the three pin Spot Hogg. Are we supposed to sight in all three pins first, 20-30- 40 with the dial maxed to the top . Then place the guide tape at 20 which in theory is where your first pin was sighted in at 20. Then we shoot while adjusting the dial down till we center at 60 yards using the previously sighted to 40 yard pin...? Confusion Starts Here ! That spot on the dial now becomes where we place the 60 yard mark from the selected yardage tape. I imagine that the guide and dial are moved to accommodate a 50 yard shot, only using the bottom pin ( 40 yard Pin ). So the three pins we originally sighted in at 20-30-40 will not work unless we have the dial back at 20 yards . Furthermore, if we use the 40m yard pin ( Floater ) it should be dialed to the entire Dials yardage settings...? 20- 100 yards...? Does this sound like the correct manner to sight in the Three Pin .. Thanks

Hey there! Some great questions. I think you are on the right track though. The three pin is basically the same as the 5 pin, but you use the 3rd pin as the floater (if you set it up as I did in the video), and that 3rd pin is used to sight in at 20, set the calibration tape on there, then work your way out to 60 yds using that same bottom pin (floater). Once you are sighted in at 60 using the bottom pin, whatever dial the number is pointing at is the tape number you'll use. You can "zero" your sight wherever works best for your bow setup. Some people like it starting all the way to the top, and others don't. The three pins you sighted in only represent 20-30-40 when the sight is at the "zero" position, so yes, you are correct there. I hope that helps! Happy shooting!

I have the five pin so technically I could set one of my pins to 20 yards work my way back to 60 with same pin and just basically use that one pin for everything correct
@BackwoodsPursuit3 жыл бұрын
That is correct! Should work perfectly for you.
@brandonhom63903 жыл бұрын
So the bottom pin should be 20? I thought the top pin was supposed to be 20?
@BackwoodsPursuit3 жыл бұрын
Hey there! The top pin is still 20yds. You can just use the bottom pin as a 20yd pin, then a 60yd pin to find the right sight tape. That make sense?
@BackwoodsPursuit3 жыл бұрын
@@brandonhom6390 not 100% sure what you are asking, but yeah, use the bottom (or top) pin at 20yds, install the calibration tape with the purple arrow pointing at 20yds. Then, using that same pin, work your way out to 60yds by rolling the dial down(so the whole housing is moving). When that same pin is now sighted in at 60yds, look at the calibration tape and it'll tell you which tape number to install. Make sense?

Great video. If you set your slider to 60, what are your other five pins set at? I was setting up my Fast Eddie XL sight with the assumption that the fixed pins would be 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and then use the 20 as the slider. You show that the 60 is the slider. Does this effect how you have your fixed pin yardage?
@BackwoodsPursuit4 жыл бұрын
Hey there and thanks! Your fixed pin yardage won't change if you were to use your 60yd pin as the slider, you'd just change the position of the tape. Pretty easy switch once you know what tape to use. Let me know if you have any other questions!
@thomasbenton82414 жыл бұрын
So if your slider is set at 60 and you have your tape still turned for it to be 60, then your top 4 pins are going to be what? 50, 40, 30, and 20 automatically because we found we needed tape number 19 (in this video) and it accounts for that? Because just moving dial for bottom pin seems like treating it like just a single pin adjustable site which we might not have time to adjust or ability if at full draw on a moving target that started at 60 but is now 30. Is that correct?
@BackwoodsPursuit4 жыл бұрын
Great question! Yes, once you get your sight tape selected (in this case #19) and install your tape, the other pins can then be sighted in at 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60. If you have a 3 pin, same thing, sight the pin in like would would any fixed pin sight. The slider simply allows you to dial in the distance you want using that 60 yard pin (as I've got it set up anyway) for longer distances or if you want an exact distance, say 37yds using the floater pin. In all reality, I don't use the slider function in hunting situation very often as I typically will just pin gap rather than move the sight, and I definitely prefer not to take shots longer than 60yds on animals. But, it does give you the option, which can be nice. Does that help? Thanks for watching!
@thomasbenton82414 жыл бұрын
Backwoods Pursuit yes I think so. So tape #19 essentially takes into account draw weight changes for the bow? Thank you for the great video and further info.
@BackwoodsPursuit4 жыл бұрын
@@thomasbenton8241 kind of. Tape #19 is what this bow with this exact draw weight, draw length and arrow setup liked. If you changed any of those aspects, you'd need to reset for a new sight tape.
