I bought myself a piano for 56yrs. birthday gift, with wishing to play it well after my retirement at 60yrs, unfortunately I quit it after had a hard time to learn practicing even I have played many music instruments before (just home relax). And now I am 68yrs. After I've seen this clip, I can say that you're rise me up again . Yes, if it's easy, everyone can play, I will restart my breath again : Thanks Singah !

I just now saw this and I loved watching it because it provided just a glimpse of your teaching skills. I’m sure you’re a demanding teacher, but your students are so lucky to have you. You convey to your students...”Do it right or don’t bother to do it at all.” They know you’re all business when it comes to learning and studying the piano. Your students derive passion and no-nonsense from their lessons as a result of watching you. They are so lucky.

Sangah, as an advanced player I've learned that I need to work on my Dynamics. I play in a pop band and I tour and my dynamic control has not been very good, so much so that the sound man has been lowering my piano because he says I've been playing at one consistent volume. I realized, because I've been practicing on a unweighted keyboard, it has totally affected my playing, this lesson is life-changing for me as a pianist and I wanted to thank you for showing me how Hannon #1 can be utilized to practice dynamics... THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! ❤️🙏🎹

EGG-ZADG-ER-RATE - four syllables with the accent on the second syllable. Your English is amazing - I could listen to you all day and pay attention to what you're saying at the same time. My wife was from Dublin and she had a very attractive accent. People used to love to listen to her - "I love the way you speak." I listened to her for 52 years and never got tired of her accent -- it was literally music to my ears. Then she had a tragic accident and died (April of 2017).

Wow, I thought Hanon finger exercises were really boring when my piano teacher had me do these during elementary school days. I was only practicing on C major and no dynamics, no expressions! THANK You for recommending practicing on flatted and sharped keys too! No wonder I'm only comfortable playing if C major. Also need to practice running up and down 1 to 8 on all the scales! Yeah, a Lot of work but that's how runners win marathons! 😌😫😂

Thank you for this exercise! I had to re-watch this video because after I did 1-5 at 50 BPM in C and in Db, when I went to 1-4 it became difficult. Why? Because I was attempting to do 1-4 in EACH hand, which meant a loud 4 in the left hand with a soft 2 in the right hand and a soft 5 in the left hand with a loud 1 in the right hand and vice versa. Now that's a challenge!!! (I'm sure that would be a good advanced exercise.) I was so relieved to hear that the dynamics follow the right hand finger numbers. (I think you said that early on, but I missed it, so I came back to listen to what you were doing.) Anyway, thanks for the challenge! You teach well.

(From the artist formerly known as James Richardson) Hi, I was playing Marty Robbin's "El Paso" on my piano and I was having trouble keeping my rhythm strict. I started to pay more attention to the note values, but more specifically , the proper pressure that was needed on each key, providing proper accent. duration, etc. In other words I was actively employing some of the precepts provided in this tutorial, and things smoothed out . Success. Thank You.

Will you please make more of them?! 😃 I have been "playing" the piano since I was a little kid but could never afford a teacher. I am now an adult, and a couple months ago I finally started taking lessons for the first time. When I watch how absolutely amazing you are at playing the piano I just feel like I'll never be able to play like you because I've probably developed really bad habits on my own and I haven't learned fundamentals of good piano technique. But videos like these make me feel like with enough practice, just maybe I'll be able to play at half your level someday ☺️
