Just bought one and compared to SONY ICF-P26 on FM Sangean SR-35 pro is the audio quality and FM sensitivity Sangean SR-35 con is the battery live and FM selectivity Battery power consumption at FM with normal audio volume: ICF-P26: 12mA average SR-35: 32mA average Despite the power consumption I choose for the Sangean because of the nice sound and very good FM reception.

Watched a bunch of your videos after looking at Amazon for a small pocket Radio. Excellent reviews my friend, thanks for doing this, you cant get this type of side by side performance and look and see from Amazon reviews. I really want the radio for listening to AM talk shows while out walking, thanks to your review you just sold a Sangean SR35 to me. I thought the Sony ICF P26 was to priced at 22$ and to much a brick and as you showed the Sangean but the tar out of it on AM. MY other choice was the Panasonic RF-P50, but with low price comes low quality and you showed that up well pointing out the mono output from the head phone jack and extremely poor performance on AM, that made this radio worthless at 17$, for another 1.75 you can get the Sangean and have the best. I'm an electrical engineer, I can't believe Panasonic didnt spend the extra 0.25 cents and get a 2 channel headphone jack, Gosh, charge me the extra penny, but thats how companies think, 0.25 x 1 million world wide makes us more money. Anyone finding this review should note the headphone jack is mono only.You will hear the same thing out of each headphone.It does sound good,and has good reception.I paid$20 for mine,and feel it is well worth that price.

Nice review bigslick. I like your straightforward way of presentation without any artificial excitements. Btw, ordered a Sangean SR-35, but at a premium price of $63 including shipping and import duty. Sangean is not available in our country India. So only by import.

Never had a Sangean that was a lemon so far. I have one thats over 20 years old and still works.

Good review! I have been looking for a travel radio for around £20 for quite a while. After watching this review it sold it to me. I ordered one from Amazon today for the slightly higher price of £23.41. But from this review its definitely worth it. Well done Bigslick.

Which AM/FM Portable pocket radios have the best AM reception? I think the Sangean seems good.

Yes, AM is very good on the Sangean. I have not found better AM on a cheap pocket radio. I have been told that the AM is good on the CCrane model of pocket radio, but it is priced beyond what I want to pay for a pocket radio, so I have not tried it myself.

For a cheap pocket radio,I found the TECSUN R-233 is excellent. Mono , but out of both sides. Analog ( non-DSP). Is “Long Range”, Runs about $13.oo on eBay. The Tecsun R-218 is similar, but runs a couple dollars more. Both are excellent performers. The Kaito KA-230 is also a great little radio. Non-DSP Analog, mono-But out of both sides. It has a small dial, so tuning it can be a bit of a pain, finding distant stations, but, like both of the Tecsun radios I mentioned, it is a “Long-Range” ( or, “Super-sensitive “) 📻😁

I have both. The Sangean sounds a wee bit better, but the Sony is much easier to tune. Stations lock right in with the Sony. With the Sangean you constantly have to fiddle back and forth to find the 'hot spot', making it a pain. Due to its superior tuning, the Sony receives my vote.

There is no power on led.What looks like one is simply a window into the innardswhich allows you to see a scale on the power switch

SR-35 is a good model.i love it.The stereo output is gr8 feature & the sound output is 12 Watt...seems to be very nice.!!

For what it's worth, Taiwan is owned/controlled by China. Sangean is a Taiwanese company. So the radio is almost certainly made I Taiwan or their factory in China. In the end, they're essentially the same. Personally, I hate Sangean''s big plastic box packaging. They do that with most of their smaller radios. Seems wasteful to me.

I understand your points. Ultimately, what matters is the quality of the radio itself, and to this day the Sangean was easily the best of these radios that I tested.
