I never thought I would see this beach on KZbin but from personal experience this is the only beach that never runs out of shells. It’s an absolute gold mine!!! People bring big bags and take as many as possible. I have my own collection. After a storm is the perfect time to go!

I used to go to Sanibel every Spring with my family, abd it started a life long love of shells. It has been many years, and I lived for 15 years in Virginia Beach. No contest, shell-wise. Sanibel wins, hands down. But, you hit a treasure trove after the storms. I'm happy to be able to "walk" on the beach with you via your video. Thank you.

Thank you for putting them back. My heart hurts to see all the dead sea creatures. Please put as many live creature back as possible....

They are perfectly fine when they're on the beach. When the tide is low like it was in this video, the animals suction themselves down to the sand as an anchor and as a way to trap water in until the tide returns and they can release. They're perfectly safe on shore. The only time it's better to put them back into the ocean by hand is if they are flipped over or noticeably dried out and/or in distress.

It’s illegal to take live shells. Thank goodness! not that it stops everyone but most that go to Sanibel have respect.

I am so very glad that you put the live snails in their shells back into the ocean instead of taking them and ( once cleaned sold them to tourists ) like myself i catch and release and only keep what I intend to eat, like yourself I'm VERY environmentally concerned about our surroundings and the toll us humans do because of poor to no proper education, keep up the good work of showing us what to do and not....big hugs from hazel park Michigan!!!

Been frequenting Sanibel for over a decade and I just can't wait to relocate there. It's a beautifully cared for place that many appreciative residents will fight pretty fiercely to continue to preserve. As will I. Oh yeah, and the shells are beautiful too. 😆 (red tide blooms, ugh, I'm not going there 😡🤬😡)

My wife and I havent seen the island for 8 years. We used to vaca each year there. Hope to come in 2018. We liked the Snook motel , it changed names, I know.Neat how the weather and cycles of the sea affect the beach. I met Kathy Oda Mazzota on Captiva years back at their gallery. I read novels about Doc Ford thanks to Randy. Hope all have done ok this past hurricane.
