Another great article Sanjay! Thank you! I have a word of caution with using Komplete Kontrol. I used it with 6 instances in an Ableton project on my laptop 3 years ago. I've since upgraded to a dedicated desktop PC and recently opened the project to rework it and all 6 instances ok KK have lost the Vst used and also the presets, so it's been a mammoth task trying to remember and sift through to try to find the originals or something close! I believe it's caused by NI libraries installed in different folders etc. And I've also experienced some similar problems with Kontakt. I found a good tip online about labelling each track in Ableton with text info as a reminder as to what vst/preset was used and perhaps not only just for KK but other vsts also, in case the same problem crops up.

Responding to your "comment below" questions. Reverb: It has to be "giant verb" for me since i use It a lot and its free. But when it comes to room reverbs its "R2" by izotope for me Mastering: FL Stock plugins rule, (especially "Maximus") for some extra shimmer i use the free bax eq by acoustica audio. Instruments: Velvet by Air for electric pianos (i adore that plugin), LABS for the rest. Synths: very difficult. For "work horse synths" I use Sytrus from FL and Surge by Vember Audio the most, since im a huge sound design Nerd. But i also have some analog synths and Eurorack Hardware which i use as an instrument. For good "analog" synth plugins I use Tyrell6 and ob-xd the most. And if you didnt see It yet im not a big presets user (even tho i use my own so in this sense i also am hahaha) Eq & compression: (on single tracks) i have lots of plugins i use there so its difficult but: H-comp by waves (compressor) and FIVER by Analog Obsession (EQ) Delay: 1000% Sandman Pro! Use It for 90% of my delay needs. Creative: very difficult. I dont have one, i guess. Free stereo enhancement: the new plugin by ozsoft is free and very usable and has a lot more controls than the one in the video. But both work fine. Honorable mentions from my side: - NastyVCS, a free high quality channel stip (free) - PreBox by Analog Obsession (free), a must have for me, no song without it - Loom2 by Air, very futuristic, unique synth, tons of sound design options and its pretty cheap to get Great video sanjay!

Analog Lab, backed up by the V collection, is almost all you need for sounds. Good pick. Frankly Sanjay, I'm surprised you haven't gotten into the Kilohearts stuff. They just released 2.0, and the snapin system makes everything possible. As simple or complex as you want it to be, and that UI... just makes so much sense it takes very little effort to get to grips with it. On the other end of the spectrum, I just picked up UVI's Falcon and been trying to wrap my head around that beast.

You can get a TON of mileage out of stock plugins that come with your DAW of choice and free plugins, free sample packs, and free drum packs. Don’t get me wrong, the paid stuff is great if you have some money to spend. Just trying to say that you shouldn’t ever feel discontent with what you have. I know It’s easy to feel that way when you’re getting into this. Get as much mileage out of all the free stuff that you can. It’s amazing what you can get for free these days! Interesting list, with a few to try. Funny you mentioned Omnisphere as worth the price. It's the most I ever spent on a soft synth (a few years ago now) and I was only saying yesterday, I kinda regret it. Great sounds but I can't fathom how to go about programming it. And I just don't use it enough in tracks to justify the cost - getting stuff to "fit" seems awkward. Conversely, just trying VPS Avenger (currently 50% off) and that seems at least as capable sound wise but with a programming architecture that makes far more sense to me.
