In a 3-person closed door meeting between him, his father & the then police commissioner, he said he helped the underworld by accepting to hide the guns delivered by Abu Salem because he is the son of a Muslim! The commissioner stated that sunil dutt was extremely shocked on hearing this! He abandoned (not divorced) his first wife and their daughter when she was diagnosed with cancer! Or how he got drunk and harassed Sridevi right before the production of Gumrah! I like that he bounced back in life but dont like that the film lies about his actions & blames them on others! In the end, the film looks like the Sholay scene where Jai talks to Mausi for Veeru's marriage with Basanti!

Movie didn’t tell everything in details so it makes you wonder why he got jailed just for having assault rifle in the house. It’s a bit complicated for foreigners. 1993 bomb blasts was a huge terrorist act in Mumbai. It was 9/11 for us. That time Mumbai had so many underworld mafias and mostly were Muslims. When Hindu-Muslims riots happened, both communities suffered. Before this all, many Muslim mafia left the country and were living in Dubai. Pak took advantage of this and made a deal to give them asylum if they help them to have attack in India as a revenge of riots. The RDX, guns and ammo came through ocean from Pakistan to India and hid in different places. One thing is these underworld dons were so powerful and before the attack, they were known as “business man”. Suppose Hollywood folks having connection with Al Capone. So not only Sanjay dutt but many Bollywood actors had relationships with top businessmen (mafias) of the city. The mafias also spent their money in film production. They were so powerful and had connection with police and politicians but everything changed after bomb blasts. Because government saw them as mafia not terrorists before 93 blasts. So, Sanjay dutt had good connection with these mafias as other Bollywood actors had too(no choice since like I mentioned before, these mafias were powerful and had tied with politicians). They ran/still runs Bollywood. You can search about Bollywood and underworld. You will get lot of information. Anyway, before blasts, these weapons needed to hide and as they had friendship with dutt, they brought some of guns to his place and asked help to hide. Sanju took some of guns and remaining guns were hid in his farmhouse. Even he had no idea that his so called powerful friends would turn into terrorists and play part in bomb blasts. Finally blasts happened, all these top mafia who were involved fled country. Later in investigation they found out someone of key accusers met with Sanju prior to blast and Sanju provided his farmhouse to hide stuff. Thus police accused him to helping these terrorists in the act. Sorry for a long a$$ essay lol.
