Hey, if you are used to play in bands or sing in a choir to spend your time and then you live there long time where there is not so much to do culturally, don't you start craving culture ? Of course there is karaoke I admit. Sometimes I do think on the other hand, that all that playing or singing here has become such a prestige matter that it's not really fun anymore.

@Isaac Palileo oh really? Why some people get annoyed when they heard the Philippines? Hm? U know bro this country is a christian country unlike some country they dont know who Jesus really is. How sad. We're very thankful that we are born in this country bcuz this country knows Jesus and who Jesus in our lives.🙂 And that even simple thing, WE ARE BLESSED.

While most filipinos felt in reverse, they wanted to escape this beautiful place and migrate somewhere thinking better opportunities outside the philippines, i never imagined not in a single moment in my life to leave this beautiful and magnificent paradise.. life maybe hard and tough sometime but i guess every place on earth has that feelings. But i was born here, live here and from here my remains will be buried.. i will be forever guest of this land..

I am a Filipino living in Belgium for 24 years now and I just had my 12 days Scandinavian tour this August 2019 and I found Sweden, Norway and Denmark are very rich countries, very rich in Natural resources, very clean, people are great, friendly and helpful - there is no language barrier because everybody speak fluently in English! I love these countries, their mountains, lakes, rivers, valleys and seas are simply amazing their beauty could cure your stressful life and refreshes your mind, a good get away from blocks of buildings and noisy city, it’s a nice place to live in, food was great and healthy as well!!!

Metro Manila now is being decentralized by new metropolises being created elsewhere. Take Clark Green City as an example and when the Bulacan International Airport is completed the proximity will progress as another modern sattelite city. Cavite with Sangley Airport should follow the same pattern as Bulacan. Then there’s the extended MRT Lines from North to South and the upcoming subway. Likewise the elevated roadways that are being implemented. There a proposal for a direct bridge from Cavite to Bataan plus the Pasig River is being deployed with water busses or ferries. . All these measures are to declog MM of its horrendous traffic issue. Metro-Manila is being redefined as we speak.

Frankly living off grid if you have the opportunity and resources is the best thing that could possible Boy happen in your life. Nature with verdant tropical firsts with abundant fruits to pick, endless beaches, fresh air and honest people. Only those that have never travelled yet or resided in other countries especially those so called industrial and highly urbanized ones will question the choice of living off grid. If you are fortunate to own a Farm Lot from 1000 sq m and above and especially near a beach or located in a cool mountainous area, then you have found paradise.

I'm half American half Filipino, but our parents last 2 years choose to live here in the Philippines (over L.A.). Good peaceful simple happy life..a good environment for kids. Like with my sister, after coming here in the Philippines she got recovered herself from marijuana addiction or illegal drug addiction (Philippines is very strict against illegal drugs). Plus racial discrimination here is not so serious and or maybe none (if there is maybe you can literally count their numbers😇) , unlike with other countries most of high almighty folks keeps protecting the businesses of illegal drugs, and racial discrimination is like beyond imaginable to the minds of people here (Like white Vs. Blacks on TV's, Asians or Europeans discriminations , Women's Power discrimination etc..... .Almost all Filipinos are kind and friendly (only very few are crocs) that's why I adapted here so easily. I'm proud and happy being a Half Filipino and still happy with my American blood but for me I can say that I want to live forever here (Negros Occidental Philippines). ❤️🤟💙🏄🏂

Thank you for making the right choice! Contraire to what the international news depicts of what's happening in the Philippines or what Philippines is like - Living here is much more easier, economical, peaceful and happier! Been around the world for 23 years due to the nature of my job, living 2-4 years from one country to another from Florida, Cheshire, Ecuador, Spain, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore -- I can proudly say that here in the Philippines is where I found peace and prosperity. BTW I am living now in Oc. Mindoro, bought a land for farming and now introducing aqua culture to the small community. Bought a land in Davao to start a small beach resort and invested on condominium units in Pasay to pay off all my expenses on those projects I have started. You will find it incredible for us foreigners to invest and register a legal business here in the Philippines for such a small capital and less paper works. You cannot do that especially in the US and EU countries.

Some people always have negative things to say about someone, too much hatred in their life so they pass their horrid and frustrated worthless opinion. Get a life and improve your personality before passing judgment on anyone. I commend Sanne's decision to live elsewhere where she 's happy and content. I left Cebu Philippines when I was 19. Join the US military and then work for the Federal Govt. In 3 years ill be 55 and I'm coming home to retire. I'll sell everything I have including my house in Seattle. Go back to the 10 hectare farm that I inherited from my parents. I miss the simpler life. Also my pension, social security and 401k is way more than enough to live in the Philippines. I'll turn my parents farm into a working farm again and maybe buy a resort by the beach for extra income. America is a nice country when you are young but a'int no country for older men. My kids can stay in America but for me Philippines is always my home.

+Fhet Doro - will you say the same thing to your fellow pinoy if they will just reside like this on a piece of land and overstay? i don't think so. in fact, isn't it what they call SQUATTERS? don't they chase them out of their homes and out of the town they live in when the poor pinoys will do this same thing that these foreigners did? i see lots of HOMELESS PINOYS everywhere, and those people are "not given any chance" to settle and put up a house on a piece of land "in their own country". and yet these FOREIGNERS, just because of the color of their skin, were all being spoiled for "overstaying and being illegal aliens" to the country? the colonial mentality is still there in the pinoy's blood. it's already the 21st century. PINOY MUNA BAGO IBA. wake up pinoy!

I've gone back to Vietnam for vacation for about 2 months. The first 6 weeks I loved it, no stress I was able to sleep and eat good with my USD. The 7th week, I begun to stress out because I was low in cash due to that I have to support my relative that I stayed with. Rent and grocery money, as you all know nothing is for free and as an american my relative think that I could afford it because I have american dolla. Well just imagine if I live in Vietnam, I will stress out more because I have to work 10-12 hrs a day to support my family. DOES THAT SOUND STRESS TO YOU? SO GOOD LUCK TO THE SWEDEN GIRL WITH HER SHORT TERM HAPPINESS.

I can definitely relate with her, I used to work with the corp, then govt. rose in ranks... but it was a rat race... before turning 30... I decided to be a party captain In Boracay Islands but it's still a rat race due to the upbeat and commercialized setting, so I decided to go back in my city and contemplate. Then after a month I received a call from a NonProfit org. here in Puerto Galera... The beaches are almost the same, I can still work with the same clients and most importantly its not stressful. I was dreaming of this life 2 years ago. Then all you have to do is be brave to shrug everything off and don't ever doubt yourself. That daydream is going to be your reality. PS.I'm going to have my one year anniversary of moving here :D

The work settings as well as the environment in PI is different in the nordics in particular and to these advanced western countries in general. And I been living for one life sentence in a western country, England, so I can relate to her views. It's not a rat race per se but the monotony of living inside the fridge, where majority of the citizens cannot own their land nor grown their own food, and depending on the government who will tax you to death. Living in the tropics is way up a wonderful idea and well, she find her peace. It is not just like more fun in PI but way up happier in PI which is priceless.

I'm Swedish too and would also love to go live in a place with a warm climate, warm, friendly and down-to-earth people, and a slow pace of life with no stress. Happiness is not a career and money. Happiness is time spent with family, friends and other people you love, it's being healthy (no stress is a huge point for that) and being somewhere where you feel at home, which is not necessarily your home country. I used to live in Japan and sure the stress is high if you work in the big cities there so I am not sure if I could work there, but I still loved it and felt more at home there somehow, so I would definitely live there again but if so on the countryside/in a small town or on Okinawa. Sweden is an easy place to live in, but not necessarily good for everyone. Not to mention it's cold for most parts of the year and the winters are really dark...

I would love to have a huge Filipino family..😘 My ex in laws are from Manila. Since the entire family lives in North America, I have my doubts about trying to live in the Philippines, as that says a lot about conditions there if an entire family migrated to another part of the world.. I have this fear of becoming a target if I lived there. It is bad enough here in the USA these days, let alone a place like that. I admire her bravery, but I feel that trying to stay there as a foreigner would be a bit naive. Although, I am sure I would feel right at home, for some reason, I have always adored people from the Philippines. Met some bad seeds too, but in general they are wonderful and I admire their family values the most. 💞

Well done Sanne. Appreciation and wisdom. Recently I came across a poll that named the Philippines as the world's most friendly people too. Then there are the climate, beauty, and it's way of life. However, I am not sure you answered the question, ' will you stay here forever, ' or skirted around it? I did the same thing in 1993, sold up everything set off as a traveller and unexpectedly found such a place. No regrets, now in my 24th year. I will never leave unless physically forced to. You would have to kill me first. It is not easy though, one needs an income, however, small, a job, friends and a home. There is no paradise anywhere on earth, people will always tell you there is somewhere better. If you find happiness maybe you should be content grateful satisfied, appreciate what you have and stay. Build on it, and try to help some others too. Courage and good luck. Go for it.

Sweden is definitely better than the Philippines. Everything works fine there, the problem here in my country is not a problem there. Education, Healthcare and everything is better in Sweden. But, she wants to experience something different and I think she found it here. She can always go back to Sweden when she thinks she needs or to stay here as long as she wants to. It's so amazing to see that a person from a wonderful country choose to stay here and call this country home. We don't have good things to say in fact, we have so many bad things to say about this country. But, seeing this country in a different perspective is something new. I'm glad she choose to stay despite the bad reputation we have and I'm happy that someone found happiness here. Girl, this is your home now.
