Plenty of tips for growing the San Pedro cactus (Trichocereus Pachanoi) and Peyote (Lophophora Willamsii) from seeds in the winter. This info is of course also valid for the Peruvian Torch (T. Peruvianus), the Bolivian Torch (T. Bridgesii) and other sacred cacti.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are interested in buying pure, well identified San Pedro seeds and seedlings, as well as San Pedro relatives, please email me at: sanpedromastery@protonmail.com
If you have a question, I will only reply to questions about cultivation. Please no questions about the psychedelic properties of these cacti.

Jerry, I just went through winter here (Australia), and went another route, I bought a large freezer cheap, for $40 ($30 US?). With it unplugged, I screwed a 40w LED (Also about the same price) to the inner top. With the seedlings in sealed trays, and the lid down, the small heat of the LED put out kept the temperature at around 28C (80-85F). TBH, a freezer not working could probably be picked up for free, but a cheap working one, why the heck not :) Anyway, it worked better than I had hoped, a few mistakes on my part, as entirely new people often do, but this setup helped enormously, and is discreet :) Now spring/summer is here, about to setup in the sun, and closing it down, but it still helped me sprout acorns, avocados and seedlings other than cacti ready for spring :) Another boon was that I bought a large Dragon Fruit, used the seeds from around 1/3 (and ate the rest) and grew three containers with hundreds of DS seedlings in each. I had no idea FRESH seedlings would be so much MORE prolific. Since DF is such a fast grower, I am hoping that when I am ready, I can use them to graft onto, as well as a base for the LW I also grew. Many thanks for your informative videos, as a newbie, I find them both insightful and knowledgeable. They have helped me enormously :)

Hey man, firstly, you inspired me to grow from seed!! I have started many varieties :) wanted to add - I'm not sure if you want to do this to your channel, because it's great as it is but you could become an affiliate for amazon or another website and have links to the gear you use or gear that you recommend, I'm currently looking to setup a winter seed germination station but am finding it difficult to find the right place or website to find things! Once again, keep up the great content. Best cactus channel on youtube!!!

Thanks for the nice words! That’s an interesting idea and I will keep that in mind. Of course I need to be totally satisfied with something to recommend it on the channel, like I did with the Garland trays. However, if I do affiliate links, I’ll probably avoid Amazon, as they have a business model that suffocates the smaller businesses they are working with. A situation of monopoly would be dangerous to have, because at that point, Amazon would set up the prices they want. I tend to buy stuff directly from companies selling grow equipment, there are many such companies in Spain.

Greetings! If my tray is in a bright window with indirect light, and I also have artificial light above it, is this too much light? Or is the only concern with direct sunlight?

Hey Jerry, do you get the Philips TL5 HO 54W 865 (MASTER) with the reflectors and the cables included ?
@sanpedromastery6262
@sanpedromastery6262 4 жыл бұрын
Ciao Simone! My reflectors and cables are from Root It, I don't recommend them as they have bad connections when they age. You can find similar from other makes, they are normally made for growing veg stage cannabis. The Philips bulb you mention, I get them by themselves. If I remember well, the Osram T5s of similar specs have got a slightly higher lumen output for the same wattage, but you want to double check on that. I got the Philips because I had a better deal on them. Just don't get the LED replacement tubes, I am very dissatisfied with them.

@@sanpedromastery6262 thank you very much. I will check for the reflectors. I also was checking for unfertilized soil and had a really hard time finding one. All of them seem to have at least some worm humus.Is there any brand you can advise me? Is seedling soil good for this purpose if mixed with enough perlite?

@@simonetomasi4080 Yes seedling soil mixed with enough perlite should be good. I have grown cacti on fertilized soil and it works, but unfertilized is a bit better. I don't think the brand matters that much for the worms casting.
