@Hand Cuffs u r ignorant boy. U should ask this to congress, Nehru and Ambedkar the founding fathers of the nation about making directive principal on making Sanskrit based Hindi a national language. Maybe u have more wisdom and vision than founding fathers. If this is not done India will lose its soft power thru all encroaching English which will soon replace every language in India in next 100 to 150 years bcoz English will remain only language of convenience, affairs, colloquial communication and knowledge if we don't have our own national language. This was the Vision of founding fathers. Having pride in Sanskrit and Tamil and our regional mother tongue is one issue and having our own national language to create our soft power is different matter. Once u allow English to percolate thru souls of Ur next generations making it sole medium of communication it will take away all culture, philosophy, value system along with our languages and will completely superimpose western culture, philosophy and value system thru English literature. Today despite being Indian we tend to read English newspaper, book , content than in our Indian languages. Convenience of communication in English will kill our entire civilizational heritage. China, Japan, Korea, Russia, Germany, France every country has their national language only we are giving red carpet to English to completely replace our Indian languages and completely run over our culture just bcoz we can't agree upon one indian language as a national language of consensus.

I was born and raised in Tamil Nadu. I never felt it was ever a problem or dispute as to which of these two languages is really the oldest. I think this occupation to prove which is the oldest is really born from insecurities and divisiveness fed by politicians with agendas and by outsiders who want to keep us (Indians) divided as Aryans and Dravidians (a theory that has never really been proven in any scientific manner). Sanskrit is called Deva Bhasha and this is hinted in our ancient Vedic scriptures so I never felt Sanskrit could be any "less" important in significance to Indic culture. The term 'Jyotisha Sastra' in Sanskrit is called 'Jyotidam' in ancient Tamil - the sounds of these two ancient languages have more commonalities if we probe more deeply. I admire both ancient languages (Tamil and Sanskrit) equally and I wish I had learnt Sanskrit (which sadly I couldn't). As Indians we must respect both languages for how ancient they are and how they have both influenced our civilisation in various ways. They have more in common than apart. Tamil literature has wonderful Vedic teachings to compliment our spiritual culture. Tamil has even influenced as far out as Korea (I know this because I have Korean friends and we both use the same words to refer to 'mother' and 'father'). I also think our present dating mechanism is inadequate to objectively measure these languages since all these languages have undergone tremendous changes over a long period of time and have had many influences to them. A lot of these changes have not been recorded into hard evidence for us to excavate and be absolutely certain of their origins. The Tamil we speak today is not the same as the ancient Tamil Brahmi script of olden times. Similarly Sanskrit as well has undergone many forms of evolution ranging from Panini to Pali and so on. But I agree with Abhijit, I personally think Sanskit may have been the oldest language, although the evidence at present is inadequate to conclusively state it. What I believe is that both Tamil and Sanskrit evolved from an ancient (common) Brahmi script and both Tamil and Sanskit in their oldest forms may have had many common sounds and common roots linking them, which over time evolved in a different form. As Abhijeet rightfully pointed out, many Tamils believe Sage Agastya gave us the language of Tamil. But this needs more serious scholarly study and not opinions built up on emotions as to which is oldest. If you go to Sri Lanka, the Sinhalese they speak has many common sounds to Sanskrit which suggests that geographically Sanskrit sounds did influence the extreme South as well. Even Kanada and Telugu have many common Sanskrit sounds. This also makes me think ancient Tamil had many common links to Sanskrit and could not have evolved in any separate form. If you read David Frawley, who is a Vedic scholar, he believes the original Vedic civilisation and culture originated in the South, possibly near Tamil Nadu or Karnataka. I am not making this up. This is actually based on his speculative scholarly research. Again, I am not saying he is right about the origins but we need a more rigorous scholarly study to uncover and unpack what is the true dating and origins of Vedic civilisation. It is my view that the ancient Tamil Culture and the Vedic Culture are not independent or separate from each other but are actually the same in their roots. We all share the same DNA, worship the same Gods, share the same cultural and spiritual fabric which ties this ancient civilisation as a whole. In South we follow an ancient Siddha medicine system which is not so different to Ayurveda when you actually understand the principles of both. The traditions of Vedic culture and Tamil culture have many common elements linking them together - so instead of seeing the common links we sit here concerned over differences of North and South (we have become the very thing invaders hoped we'd become - how sad is that).

You don't really have to worry about the extinction of Samskrutam. It is still studied all over the world because many ancient texts of various fields are in Samskrutam and for many centuries they are being studied and decoded. Not just linguists but scientists of various fields also study Samskrutam texts. It's not a language which common people use and that doesn't mean that it's dying. People are becoming more tamsik so they are using languages which are corruptions of Samskrutam in one way or other. When they become more satvik they will automatically be drawn towards Samskrutam. Also, Vedas talk about Dharma and not Hinduism. The word "Hindu" doesn't exist in any of the Vedas, Vedangas, Upanishads, Darshanas, etc.

I think that because of the way Sanskrit grammar is structured it was completely meant for subjects that deal with knowledge like science, philosophy, math, economics, also for literature and formal uses like government documents, etc. Tamil seems to have been used colloquially. So perhaps the people who settled in the south wanted an easier language for colloquial purposes, given the amount of root words and complications of grammar in Sanskrit. So if this theory is true then Tamil and Sanskrit could have coexisted, and later on Tamil was also explored well, given the amount of Tamil literature, and many other things.

Tamil Brahmi is much more older than asokan Brahmi script. ( Prakrit or Sanskrit) Keeladi TN excavation inscriptions on potsherds are about 3000 years old. The graffiti and artefacts in keeladi TN has culture similarities to Tamils and Indus valley civilization which is oldest civilization in India. It's an evidence in adichannalur and keeladi excavation in Tamil Nadu are bringing lights on Tamil history as the artefacts are about 3500 years old. Agastya sage is popular Tamil sage because he spoke ancient Tamil and rooted in Tamil culture which was they before agastya sage. Infact the first Tamil Sangam era is about 10000 years old. As the last Tamil Sangam era itself takes us to around 3000 years old. Tamil has more literature than any other languages in the world. Tamil is the only language in world to have it's grammar book tolkapiyam in 300 BC. So understand since when the language has evolved. #AskAbhijit To what extent the Chanakya TV Series by Chandraprakash Dwivedi is historically accurate especially in terms of: 1. How the living standard of people is portrayed in it ? 2. How the story of Alexander is shown in it? And also according to this series, The King of Kaikeya (modern day Punjab region) is referred as Porus by the greeks.

Tamil and Sanskrit: Two great and ancient Indian languages with rich culture that has stood the test of time.
@Shankar6791
@Shankar6791 2 жыл бұрын
Anyone says this is older than that do not know what they are talking.... I am Tamil by birth and learned and still has a command.... Both the languages have two different bases although there are some words you can find on each side... Secondly, Agasthiya was the one who was considered as father of southern civilization..aka Deccan...or Dravid..which is south Indians by then.. He was a disciple of shiva, as we know earliest shiva drawing were at least 10 thousands years old in carbon dating... In that case Tamil should be at least as old as that... Parallel to this,. Sanskrit would have been developed similar fashion... No comparison should ever be done. Vedas of today are in Sanskrit written but... it's originally Vaitheega Basha....it's like Marathi language has similar devanagari alphabets..but can't understand a thing by Hindi speakers... Vedas is about the sound how the creation has happened and understanding and mastery over that aspect.... Any Indian should never attempt to compare and feel superior to others... Let be proud and cherish each other and respect each other... Sadly North Indian don't know anything about South Indian history.. including Chola dynasty who had the best navy of Bharat 1000 years ago.. similarly South Indians don't know much about Maratha empire and older Hindu empire..we all taught mogul and British colonial time... Let's unite and work for the betterment of Bharat.....

Regarding your explanation about sangam period it's not so specific. actually there are three sangam periods Muthar sangam period(first) Idai sangam period (middle) Kadai sangam period (last) The tamil literature and epics that we have now is only belongs to the last sangam period, the literature and works of the first and second sangam periods were destroyed or submerged in the Indian ocean. Many temple structures are there beyond kanyakumari deep inside the Indian Ocean that are once emerged above sea level but now it's submerged so this shows how the history dates long back..... Many poets in third sangam refered about the first and second sangam but no works of it still found. I guess Indian Ocean has so many secrets underneath it🙂

The version which I could find in eBook versions of Anandamatha had only 6-7 verses (instead of 14) and if I am counting the verses wrong, they are definitely not 117 lines, there are only 25-28 lines in those versions, the extra lines in few versions is because of added 'Vande Mataram' line after few verses.

With contribution from all areas of India through leaning centers. We have many such examples. Concious effort to improve collective fitness = yoga Concious effort to improve collective eating = Ayurveda Concious effort to improve music = Hindustani,Carnatic music Concious effort to improve dance = Natya shastra Concious effort to improve speaking = Sanskrit Let’s use it because we have spent thousands of years to develop it Tamil Hindi no different from Kannada or telugu

If they keep fighting, their knowledge will deplete and thus creates no awareness about our ancient history thereby limiting our knowledge about modern world. The comment section is lovely. Mature people. The story is simple. Both are indian. Sanskrit came from the sound of shiva s damaruka. The Vedas. Then upangas like upanishads (vedantas) have come. Various sages contributed to them. It is subrahmanya or muruga who created Tamil. He came down to South India from kailasa (long story). Agastya Maha muni was forced to come to South of vindhyas from Kashi (to prevent vindhya parvata from growing taller and taller). So, muruga or subrahmanya while explaining about Kashi to agastya (Kashi khandam of skanda puranam), he explained about Tamil. He propagated it. The very same sages changed the sound of vedas differently in the South. That's a reason why all 4 southern states have different way of doing things. As a telugu person, we revere sanskrit and read it everyday (in telugu script). I read it. I also love Tamil. Lot of words are interlinked between them. Stop fighting. Britishers created this Aryan, dravidian nonsense. Politicians are using it.

Bharat is how the ancient people of the country referred to it. Hindustan and India (both derived from the river Sindhu) are names used by foreigners for the same country. We say either sanskrit is oldest or Tamil as oldest , but maybe in real both are equally oldest and just was different on certain words which some people used it to create both sanskrit and tamil as different languages and later to divide people on basis of this .

I like ur approach. I'm from north. But to be honest, Tamil is way older than sanskrit. So many evidences are there. This youtuber only talks about archeological evidence. And the evidence which he mentions in this video is fake. The mitanni inscription which he talks about is of hurrian language. Not sanskrit. Idk why he is telling fake evidence, The oldest archeological evidence of sanskrit is just 100bce while for tamil is 600bce. And there are scientific evidences too to say tamil is way far older than sanskrit. But I like ur approach. Stay with the same

Sanskrit Language World’s oldest language is Sanskrit. The Sanskrit language is called Devbhasha. All European languages seem inspired by Sanskrit. All the universities and educational institutions spread across the world consider Sanskrit as the most ancient language. It is believed that all the languages of the world have originated from Sanskrit somewhere. The Sanskrit language has been spoken since 5,000 years before Christ. Sanskrit is still the official language of India. However, in the present time, Sanskrit has become a language of worship and ritual instead of the language of speech. All the auspicious works performed in Hindu religion are recited by Veda Mantra, whose language is Sanskrit.

Recently found Archiology things on Keeladi, which are much older than the Indus valley civilization and that has been acknowledged by Tamilnadu Government. If consider, Thamizh language is much older than any other language not only Sanskrit but even Greek and Chinese But the central government barry guards those archeology things, Tamilnadu government only doing those findings and research are going on, and they planned to open Museum too.

#AskAbhijit I want some clarity on Varnashrama, Does biology really doesn't matter? Kula, Jaati especially Varna must have something to do with the birth. But almost all of the Spiritual teachers are denying (excepting a few) about this birth. I am not denying the Purushakar, isn't birth and Varna style Marriage Reformation an important thing in Aryabharat?

I have heard folklores that Maharishi Agastya brought Tamil to Humans from God Shiva. Whatever it may be, old or not old, Tamil and Sanskrit are not alien to each other that's for sure.

To me both are our languages. Doesn't matter which one is older... No matter what we have to stay together and fill the gaps made by divide and rule policy..
