The Alaska Airlines 737 MAX is a huge improvement over the old -800 and -900 models. It’s bright, very comfortable, and sounds incredible on takeoff!
This is footage from my experience on AS539 from San Diego (SAN) to Seattle (SEA) - just three days after the 737 MAX entered the Alaska Airlines fleet.
I was seated in first class (seat 4F), and the aircraft registration was N913AK. And yeah - the food was pretty good too.

I completely agree with you about Alaska Airlines. I have flown with them for over 20 years and have never had a single problem. I also agree with you about Seattle being a stunning city. I feel fortunate to be able to live in Seattle and hop an easy 2 hour flight in the winter when I need a sunny San Diego shot in the arm.

I just flew LAX-SEA first class, same plane. Left at 8:10pm, so just 10 minutes too late for food service. And the LAX lounge was at capacity. Glad your experience was smoother!

As much as I agree that Alaska has great customer service and takes good care of their airplanes, I actually think this first class looks really bland. The seatbacks look really generic. There is nothing on the wall in front of the first row to show it's Alaska. And, the dividers from first to economy are really ugly. I could definitely see Alaska doing something similar to AA's Kodiak design. They need a sturdier/more private bulkhead behind the fourth row. The first class cabin is very uninspiring otherwise - and I love Alaska! Great video, though! None of this is a knock on you!

Sanspotter Back in January we landed at night coming in from the ocean it's one of the craziest things to see cuz u we banked and when ya looked down the ocean was all black. It was kind of weird cuz we had to do a go around the first time. plus when we banked we were only around 4k feet from the ocean surface. idk but it was pretty cool lol.

Yeah, landing over the ocean at night is always a trippy experience - it’s extremely hard to gauge altitude. One minute it’s all black, and the next...runway!

The warmed Alaska chocolate chip cookie is the best cookie out of all the airline cookies. I like that the cookie is not just a basic chocolate chip cookie, it’s got caramelized brown sugar bits and rough cut smooth chocolate with a good amount of cacao like higher end cookies. It tastes like the Tasty 48 hr cookie.

I found this video just now, and I have a flight TO San Diego from Seattle booked just over a month from now on Alaska Airlines' 737 MAX 9. FINALLY, if all goes WELL, it will be MY turn to fly on a MAX for the FIRST time! (On my return trip to Seattle, however, I have to fly on a regular 737-900.) Anyway, was great to see some of San Diego's airport, as it will be my first time ever landing and taking off from there. Just hope it's not pouring rain, as I'm going to San Diego specifically to get AWAY from the rain!

That was a tiny lav. You had a beautiful day arriving in Seattle. It's one of my favorite approaches too. Also, sitting on the side you sat at means you usually get to see Mt. Rainier. I miss the PNW, but not all the rain. Just some rain would be ok compared to nothing we get here in LA.

Yeah, I’ve had pretty good luck flying into Seattle the last handful of times that I’ve done it. The scenery is amazing! And I totally agree about the rain thing in SoCal. I love living here, but the lack of any real weather is a bummer.

As somebody of indigenous descent (Inupiat, which is Alaskan), I appreciate how Alaska still has those key intra-Alaskan pax and cargo ops, but the one thing I hate is the new modern brand. I’d pay to get the old bulkhead design and livery back, instead of the new “mEeT oUr EsKiMo” crap they’re pulling. Back then it felt like the icon on the tail was part of the fleet, not a mascot.

A couple of things Scott... I've been jetting around on AA for the past few months, DL managed to lose me with the"Hey we know you're in first, but you can have wine, beer or water, no diet coke or coffee...You want food ! No here is a bag of sugar to eat" routine. Anyways, you are wrong, if you get lucky and don't get a turkey roll flight, you will get the AA charcuterie board (veg or meat versions) which used to be part of the pre-order selection , frankly, they are some of the best meals I have had (the turkey roll just plane sucks btw) but hey, I can get a diet coke and coffee so suck it DL....Anyways, I used to fly AS a lot, then one day, a birthday trip up to 100 Mile House (Google it) I decided to go in first....The meal from Vegas to Seattle was an apple....Just an apple....It made AA's turkey sandwich look like a lobster dinner....

Don't forget, when they bought VX they had a premium cradle seat and they took them out, they know they cannot compete with the big boys (or B6) so go for the lower revenue passengers, there are more of us.
