Trip Report | Alaska Airlines 737MAX 9 (First Class) | Seattle to Bozeman

So far, Boeing is undergoing safety testing with these variants of the MAX due to a recent event involving the jet! Let’s leave the political stuff out of here if possible! Thanks! Also, according to the FAA, they announced that the 737MAX 9s will resume service not long after this video has been published!

Nice video, I’ve actually been hoping to see a video on this route as I did a similar one recently on an E175. Along with that I was supposed to fly on one of Alaska’s 737 maxs SEA-PHX on January 7th (as a matter of fact, they originally assigned N704AL, the aircraft involved, to my flight). But the blowout happened and they swapped my plane to a -900ER N278AK. Flew out of that same concourse you did. Was a strange experience knowing how close I was to ending up on a plane that had a door plug blown off. But other than that it was a nice experience. Would definitely fly with them again.

For the price point, I find Alaska’s first/ business class a good deal. Especially when lounge access is included. Yes, I’m sure other carriers offer a superior product but you’ll pay for it.

The nice thing though about the lounges, while I agree, I hate the change, but at least it only cost $30 to get in, when most airlines, if not all other carriers, don't even allow that to enter their lounges.

Yeah I don’t know why they did it even though they said it’s free if you go over I believe 2300 miles. But it’s relaxing, so I didn’t mind as much besides, if you fly a ton, you can actually buy a yearly pass I believe for like 350 and that’s for anybody.

I flew Alaska first class (they just call it that, it’s really business class), on a 737-900. It was the worst business class I ever flew on. There were no monitors for entertainment in the seats. You had to use your own smart phones to entertain yourself. The seats don’t recline and the wifi wasn’t even free. And the inflight meal was among the worst I have ever had. I’ve had economy meals on other flights that were better. Also the lounge at SFO ranks among the worst for food in my opinion, and you had to pay for alcohol. Nickel and diming your “first class” passengers is not a great policy.

What do you mean? It was proven that it was a maintenance flaw, not a design flaw. Learn to watch detailed news, not just the headlines.

Nothing is wrong with the design. Someone forgot to re-install a few bolts.

So was this first class or business class? Your title says first class. But you talk about “business class” in the video

It’s practically business class but Alaska goes by “First” when booking tickets through their website. Next time I’ll go more into details about it but thanks for pointing that out!!
