MLA Sukhpal khaira was granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana high court in a 2015 drugs case. However, he was arrested by the Kapurthala police in another case for threatening and intimidating a witness.
The Kapurthala police registered a case against the MLA Sukhpal Singh khaira last Thursday at the Subhanpur police station. The case was filed based on a complaint by Ranjit Kaur, the wife of Kashmir Singh, a witness in the drugs case. The charges include threatening a person to give false evidence and criminal intimidation under Sections 195A and 506, respectively.
MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira was brought from the Nabha jail to the Kapurthala court on a production warrant and was then sent to one-day police custody.
Kashmir Singh, a resident of Dograwal, had given a statement against the MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira and other accused in the 2015 NDPS and Arms Act case registered at the Jalalabad police station in Fazilka district. The complaint mentioned danger to the life and liberty of Kashmir Singh's family members, leading to the registration of the case.
