Oh my god. These tenors are ridiculously amazing. I love how every runthrough of stick control has a new split, each more badass than the previous. Amazing.

Even though that was 10 years ago, somewhere a Pearl rep is smiling at the sound of those snares.

Can't forget those jazzy basses
@michaelandcolinspop4 жыл бұрын
@@victorcordon3411 Indeed. I've always thought Pearl has the best mix of voices across the battery. Yamaha's tenors and Dynasty's basses seem to get lost in the mix, Ludwig had/has quality and weight problems, and System Blue just sounds thin and strange. I'll take Pearl every time.

@@michaelandcolinspop thoughts on Mapex?
@michaelandcolinspop4 жыл бұрын
@Sub Bot Holy smokes, how could I forget them? I’ve only heard Mapex live a couple of times and both of those were good college drumlines. What stood out to me was the liveliness of the snares - lots of cut to my ears in very large crowds and loud bands. The ensemble balance was good, from what I can recall, and there are plenty of HD DCI videos where the drums complement the music well in the hands of great musicians. The company has been making drums since, what, about 1989-90 in the drum set market, but they have made huge strides in a short time in the marching world. They’re probably terrific drums, given the number of great lines who play them. Sorry for leaving them out. I just have a lot more experience with the other big names. Bad on me.
@subbot80774 жыл бұрын
@@michaelandcolinspop wow, thanks for the quick reply! I wasn't trying to call you out by the way, just was curious since you seem pretty knowledgeable. I think BK used mapex this season and their drums sounded pretty great if I remember correctly

Jesus these guys are so good. SVC has the best orchestration, by far, in DCI. When they have those years with the top talent, no one's better. Ever. And this is coming from a longtime Cadets drumline admirer.

I have both the full snare part and full tenor part for Cheesy Poofs. Also, the last iteration of stick control for the tenors is freaking awesome. Vanguard has some of the best tenor parts.
@jakubrox1912 жыл бұрын
I love how they took it like 5 beats faster just for the backsticking haha

Always wondered about the sticking on the base pattern. Is it Chugada-Chugada Chuck-Chuck-Chuck where the three Chucks are all flams or is the middle chuck just an accent? Some sheet music online says it is only an accent but it sounds like a flam in this video.
