I think this might be the first time I’ve heard announcers not act like a fight was the most disgusting thing they’ve ever seen, respect to them. Also, sorry the broadcast hardly showed any clear replays and didn’t show the ejected players leaving the game :(

It's funny you feel that way, and the announcers did too, but I feel it's because everything was mostly accidental and honestly funny if you look at the replay until #55 for USF blindsides Santa Clara #21 with a shoulder bump and makes Santa Clara #21 trip into #1 for USF, because SCU #21 only looks at the ref and is only upset about the ref's foul call on his screen attempt until he gets bumped into tripping onto #1 and #3 for USF, and #1 from USF is only looking at his teammate, and his teammate is on the ground, and they have no context for why #21 from SCU is suddenly falling on them both... #3 from USF just absolutely claws his way around #21 of SCU, who comes back with what might be a legit screen attempt, but #21 of SCU, who has his arms and hands way down like he should, brings them up super quick afterward which makes it look worse, but it was #55 for USF that made this into a KZbin clip.

I got a shot of adrenaline and actually LOLd when both announcers simultaneously said , "this is rivalry basketball"! Even though I dont think the screen that was set which knocked the guy down was cheap, I do think the retaliation kind of was, but regardless, it is refreshing to see two in-conference rivals treat the game how a rivalry should be treated. Good stuff.

I'm an East Coast kid, so I don't know much about any rivalry between these two schools, but this video has me interested in the next game between them. Should be intriguing!

These aren't exactly well known schools on the west coast for anyone not in the WCC. That said both schools have had time in the national spotlight. San Francisco won two straight NCAA titles in 1965-66 thanks to an outstanding guard by the name of Bill Russell, who if you haven't heard, went on to win 11 MBA titles. Perhaps more impressive, San Fran made the final four in 1957 without Russell! They haven't really been much of a force lately, however. Santa Clara's success was more modest, but also more recent: in 1993 they puller a 15-2 upset over Arizona, thanks in part to clutch free throw shooting by future Hall of Famer Steve Nash.

Is ANYONE going to mention how Hawthorne, #3 was using Tongue #21 as a pole and literally grabbed Tongue's left arm and then shoves him right to get around Tongue and get back up to the top? Held him entire sequence under basket to propel himself back to the top. Should not have been a foul call in any of that sequence or get the first one under the basket.

Well I recall a game where both benches cleared & after things got sorted out the last 6 minutes of the game the head coaches were left and one team fielded 5 guys to the other team's 3. For a couple of possessions the team with 5 guys staged a dunking contest.
