As a pre-Birthday treat, we headed to north to the Ligurian Coast and the stunning Villa Gelsomino. It was a stay that I'd booked months prior but them my accident happened and all was cancelled.
It was wonderful to finally experience this fabulous place and rediscover towns that I'd seen as a teenager with my parents.

Hello Marisa and David. My husband and I were in Rapallo last year and went to Santa Margarita and Portofino. Portofino was impossible but we headed straight up the hill and found a wonderful restaurant and had lunch away from the crowds. David you are very brave to drive around it’s certainly not for the faint hearted. Thank you for sharing your beautiful video. I always enjoy them. Happy Birthday Marisa! ❤

Oh! the Italian Riviera such a prestigious coastline. What a wonderful villa and I believe the universe has a way of rewarding beautiful people the upgrade was well deserved. So glad you got to visit Portofino and on your next visit to this area be sure to take a boat trip to San Fruttuoso for a couple of hours to see the monastery there and have lunch and drive to Camogli from Santa Margarita I believe you both will love those places. Happy (belated) birthday! I'm so glad you stayed in Santa Margherita Ligure for the first day and enjoyed it. I was there once for a few hours and fell so madly in love with it that I went on a solo vacation there in October 2022, stayed in Hotel Laurin, right on the boardwalk across from that market you went to, and soaked up the town for 8 days. It was glorious! I even still keep in touch with the bartender from the hotel. I cannot wait until I can get back...that is after I explore more parts of Italy this year. Thanks for sharing this lovely trip!

Glorious, glad you enjoyed such a pretty place for your birthday. Yes have to book everything these days I reckon. You did well walking all around. Oh thank you so much my darling! Yes some places are probably better by boat but we didn’t have that option. Thankfully it all worked out well but we wouldn’t go back on a weekend day next time. So lovely to see you in those heavenly surroundings. I remember my stay in St Margherita in the 1980's. The narrow winding roads out to Portofino. Just the same. Even more tourists now. a little crowded back then too. Portofino is so small, a little gem. Remember taking a boat trip from Portofino to a small beach with a Monastery. (Could only be reached by boat.) There is a Christ statue under the water. Thank you for sharing. 💖

Yes it was! We didn’t have time to venture to the other side where Camogli is, as it was a work weekend in essence, so I had lots of appointments that afternoon. Next time for sure! So lucky to live only 2 hours away 🥰🩵 Portofino on a Monday is awesome… absolutely no one to start with but I’d probably walk there once my leg is better. A lovely long walk by the sea 🌊🥰🩵🤗 thanks for watching my friend! 🤗🩵

Wonderful. Loved the villa you stayed in & looks like you found the ideal day to visit Portofino. You mentioned Louis Vuitton 5 times but David didn't take the hint 🙄😂, Toni would have dragged me in ! The weather didn't dampen the beauty of the area. ❤️❤️

It's a shame that the 'known' tourist places in Italy are becoming completely impossible due to excess tourism

Yes but I’m actually glad they’re controlling it. We aren’t upset as such and we’re happy to try the next day. We could only get a room for a Sunday night, so we realised that it was probably going to be a bit “crazy” Many places in Italy are now really “cracking down” on heavy tourism and limiting the numbers … I think that’s a great thing as it protects the environment and helps the locals live more comfortably. We are happy to go with the flow…I’m too happy just to be here and enjoy each experience as it comes. Thank you so much for joining us! See you next time 🥰♥️🤗💋💐
