Santa Maria Speedway 8-11-12 :: USAC/CRA & Western Classic Sprint Cars

I was at this race, and although this video is good, it does not do the race justice! Best sprint car race I have seen in a long, long time. Big time open wheel fan, and Danny Sheridan can drive at SM with the best of them which he proved here! Let's do it again next year. Let's get the WoO series back in Santa Maria!

I drove down from the Portland area to see this race and the one the night before at Watsonville. In all my many years of attending auto racing, this is probably the best race I've ever seen, anywhere. The gentleman from Loudpedal Productions was interviewed at the intermission, and he told how he and his son produce these amazing videos. I've forwarded this video to lots of friends, who all loved it. I still hold my breath watching this finish! Thanks, Loudpedal Productions - awesome video!

sheridan's at his best when he's pissed. i remember seeing one race where he wrecked twice, and ended up finishing 4th. the guy's a beast.

Those lap cars pissed Sheridan off! After that situation, he got faster. Must've grabbed his nuts haha.

Although SMS was too far off the beaten path to put on a lot of first rate shows, the annual summer visits by the CRA cars and NARC wingers were usually more than worth putting up with the bombers and four-bangers. The track is still pretty much "there" and ready for action, but the politics and economics in Nipomo have shuttered "Stadium 805" for the time being... and possibly forever.
