As a 41 year old Brit, my childhood was filled with California based TV shows like CHIPS, The Fall Guy and The A Team - everyone one was good looking, care free, and the music was awesome. So aside from the Eagles et al, those TV sound tracks have created my image of Cali. On the bucket list to take the family out there one day. Keep up the great vlogs - good work! Every time I travel to LA, about 90% of the guys I see in coffeehouses with laptops have Final Draft open and two guys are having a conversation like "Ok, so what if after Ray kills Esposito, he goes back to Tamara's apartment...because he thinks Esposito might have hidden the diamonds there." "But...when was he ever alone there long enough to hide them?" "Uh, yeah...I don't know. OK, just start a new scene." Favorite LA song, Warren Zevon's epic "Desperados Under the Eaves" A lot of his work was so evocative of Los Angeles and the lifestyle, through his jaded, cynical, and wickedly funny lyrical sensibilities, particularly his first album. Dawes is another great band that evokes LA specifically a lot.

His name is Art Alexakis, and if I remember correctly he lived in Culver City for some time, which wasn't a fun place in the 80's. But yeah, Santa Monica was a great song, and that riff with the G powerchord, and then the loose E string while still hitting the D and G, man it sounded great. I even had a early 90's Gretsch Silverjet because of that video. The whole Sparkle And Fade album was on of my favourite late teen records, good mix between rock and punk.

Took a road trip to LA from Canada in 2006. Spent the entire day at True Tone when my friends were surfing by the pier. Ended up buying my Rivera Knucklehead that day and snuck it back across the border because I didn't have any money left to pay duty and taxes. That place was magical.

i think it’s good to understand that business side, the sacrifices, how to make it work and fit in etc....it’s like you need perspective, otherwise we’d just think you were a guy that lets his team work, while you play on your 28amps, and 400pedals and make vlogs. i’d also i guess like to see more of the engineering passion that obviously still happens for you when designing a pedal.... the inspiration, the road blocks, the perseverance, the dead projects. i’m so glad i found this channel again, it’s one of the rare safe places for me as a female to get gear knowledge. i don’t have to worry about a derogative comment, or feeling alienated. but the blog has a fresh, modern, fun vibe along with the passion for what’s old, what’s happened, and how it can mix with the new. it’s a lovely perspective on life, plus it’s teaching me.

The song inanimate sensation by death grips isn’t strictly about California but there is a lyric about Northern California in it and death grips is amazing. My Santa Monica thing, and I'm in New Zealand, was the way early skateboarder mags and the Dog Town Boys, in the mid-seventies and just pre - punk... and we dug those fellows as they seemed to almost have the same working class factories by the sea thing we had goin' on. Weird huh? But then again we pick up and build our mythologies where we can find them!
