Today I take us on a journey to experience the original effects used on guitar. Along with Nick and Zach, I jam on some groovy tunes that may sound vaguely familiar using these original effects. In the comments below, let me know what your favorite effect from today was, which one you think affected electric guitar and music the most, and your favorite early distorted guitar tone from between 1945 and 1955.

I think fuzz is the effect that totally took rock to a new and higher level. I cannot get enough fuzz or distortion fuzz. Link Wray was probably my first exposure to distorted tones as a kid because I'm old as dirt. I'd love a JHS devoted pedal to Link. I can just see the icon for it. I think you'd do Link proud.

Hubert Sumlin was pretty special - although I think Willie Johnson might still be the main man on that record before he didn't want to move to Chicago with Wolf. 2) Uni-Vibe is the bomb. Louis Jordan always had distorted guitar on his tracks back to the 40's. Check out Saturday Night Fish Fry. Even used the term "Rockin"

Well crafted presentation and history lesson! Thank you! Also awesome was the saucy little head shake at the beginning of the wah jam. Somebody was feelin the funk for a minute there.

my favorite amp is the Bugera V5 because if you turn the wattage used to 1W and turn the volume all the way up, it distorts the sound coming out of the amp and gives the most beautiful sounding overdrive your ears will ever hear.
