A great eye opener from Mr Peck. If the grain markets fail and the plans do not work out, not to worry. New opportunities for you with the Government, Minister for Agriculture and Food Security and the Health of the Nation and the long term planning for when we have no farmers. Why do we not have people like you running the country ? Your guest advisor would be a good number two. I could go on. Thank you again for another school day.

though i fully agree with what you have said i think james should be our primeminister ,with the ability to surround him self with a team to get the job done ,who seam to respect him fully, this is how you run a successful l organisation .

Great video this week. A low yielding farm can be as effective as a well managed farm if their marketing plan is good ! And you included your sprayers ! - thanks

fascinating and incredibly interesting video again James thank you, do you think it is difficult for some farmers to think of investing and trying to grow there farming business with the result of the budget, as from what I can see the more successful you become the bigger problem (cost) the family will incur
@andrewwatson1698Күн бұрын
Interesting video and I've learnt some new words - but there are plenty of small farms with yields comparable to yours who also aren't up to their necks in debt. Turnover is vanity - profit is sanity.
@PX_FarmsКүн бұрын
I don’t follow
@andrewwatson1698Күн бұрын
You suggested that big farms should grow the food because they get big yields whilst small farms should be given over to environmental schemes as they don't get the yields of the big farms. There are plenty of what you would call small farms that would be disappointed with your yields. If you only have a modest acreage every acre has to perform.
@PX_FarmsКүн бұрын
Nothing to do with size, the point is there’s a market to provide solutions for each other if policy allows.
@andrewwatson1698Күн бұрын
Sorry - I must have misinterpreted what you said.
@raywalter48Күн бұрын
this is why farmers need to run the country because organisations like councils, water companies, electricity companies, and other utilities take to long to make decisions.

A smaller farm has the same assured costs as a large farm sprayer MOT etc. Grain marketing is just a gamble full stop. The experts are in hindsight only.

Re: offsetting set-aside to less productive land. Developers are able to put social housing on another site, why in earth couldn't you do similar? Businesses can do a carbon offset on land they don't own... it makes no sense we have some of the best farm land in the world, and the government hobble you at every turn!

If land is £13000 an acre, then a 9% return would be £1170 per year?
@PX_FarmsКүн бұрын
Try 2500 an acre to 13k plus include annual.
@oliverelliott4453Күн бұрын
If you apply the same idea to shops and butchers we will only have Asda, Tesco and the likes
@PX_FarmsКүн бұрын
So what is the percentage of those comparisons ?
@oliverelliott4453Күн бұрын
@PX_Farms 10% make 60% of the food. Those 10% can produce food at a far cheaper price than the rest of us at the bottom. If you buy a combine that will produce half of one of yours it isn't half the price it's nearly 3/4 of the price you paid.
@oliverelliott4453Күн бұрын
@PX_Farms at the end of the day are we not just the little people fighting over the scraps at the stat of the food chain. But if we was all paid a fair price for what we produce the guys who want to grow could. But bigger isn't always better. When it come to our beef and dairy we don't want to end up like America where farms end up like huge corporations.
@oliverelliott4453Күн бұрын
I apologise if some of my spelling is wrong I am badly dyslexic

So all the smaller farms should go to the wall because it's cheaper to farm on a bigger scale
@PX_FarmsКүн бұрын
I’ve not suggested this nor support, where did you get that from?
@oliverelliott4453Күн бұрын
Might have miss heard you. But I thought you said that most of the support should go to the top 8/10% of farms
@themunter4488Күн бұрын
Perhaps such big operations like yourself should look to offer assistance to smaller farmers in your area ? ( I don't mean money) Farming 12+K acres is corporate business, much as I like you videos your business has zero relevance to the normal family run farm.
@PX_FarmsКүн бұрын
We are a family run farm. We just farm for other families as well as our own.
@adrianhutchin492517 сағат бұрын
great as always however percentages as an answer do not give real indication of costs and impact real costs are invoices, the goverment are completely lost on this issue and ignore it!!
