Thanks for your comment, Jamie! For portraits it might not be the best to shoot at golden out since the skin tones might turn out almost too red. But in most other light conditions this film creates beautiful skin tones. Very excited to see your results with it :)

Hallo Karin, klasse Video wie immer. Well, why is Santacolor 100 such a great film stock? Because it is Kodak material: Kodak Aerocolor IV 2460, sold as SantaColor 100, Luminar 100, Film Electra 100, and Film Washi X....! Kodak even produces now for Fujifilm (Fujicolor 200). Almost any time, when a film box says "Made in USA", the likelihood that there is indeed Kodak film stock in it is very high. However, every new film stock on the market is a new chance for the analog film community to grow. Let's shoot film!

Wonderful to see you in golden hour sunlight for a change, my friend. I agree on the similar color rendition to Ektar. I did try the 1000 ISO B/W Santa and can't wait to try this one. great video... enjoyed your industrial images... film is reminiscent of Agfa Color in the 1970's... often, using the color balance eyedropper on the orange mask between images will give a good neutral color balance for scanning/printing
@KarinMajoka2 жыл бұрын
Since I did not develop this roll myself I did not get to see the actual negatives yet. But it seems like the film base is almost completely clear, which might make it a bit trickier to scan. But it would be good to see if the trick with the color balance works on this film as well.
@baladino2 жыл бұрын
As a new film user, social media is flooded with colour images made with Portra and Ektar and now Kodak Gold 200. Santa Colour seems to have a red predominance and greenish casts from your images. It looks more fine grained than Kodak Gold. And it doesn’t seem as warm. I’ve ordered some but I’m on the fence as to what I think. Coming from a sunny place I tend to favour a warm look rather than this cool tones. But it seems to be best when exposed düng good light. By the way, following you on your vlogs and film experience is something I always look forward. Stay safe and thank you. And don’t tell Elmar about this film so you can brag later.
@KarinMajoka2 жыл бұрын
I totally understand you, it can sometimes be hard to build an own taste when social media is flooded with the same film stocks, shot in the same old manner. But that's also why I appreciate having more options such as Santacolor on the market to escape that typical "film look"-bubble so to speak. Good luck with your own experiences with Santacolor 100, hope you will find something useful in it no matter what! :)

The shipping costs from Kodak to Finland and back to the USA makes this an awfully expensive luxury for anyone in the Americas.

That is unfortunately very true. Due to shipping costs the film is better accessible to people in Europe. First comment, without watching the video: LaPaDu 🤩
@KarinMajoka2 жыл бұрын
Wow, you recognised it from the thumbnail alone? 😱
@Uwe_Ludolf2 жыл бұрын
@@KarinMajoka Second comment... Yeah, I have been there multiple times so it's easy the recognise 🤭. There are so many different scenes possible there. With Corona Hochofen 5 was closed so I really need to go there again, I only went up once and ever since then I got more experienced. When you shot all this pictures in the centre of Duisburg I was actually thinking "don't waste your film there, you'll need it later". I have a few 120 rolls of Silberra 160 (which is exactly the same stuff, Aerocolor was made almost only for the Russian army) I think I'll use them in LaPaDu the next time, the colours of the rust really came out nice. Ultra wide angle works really nice on such places, but I always forget to buy one when I am at camera *I don't know the English word* Börsen. Have you been to other sites of the Route der Industriekultur? Zeche Zollverein in Essen also is a great place, I can really recommend it. Congratulations if you're still reading my story 😆 but I didn't know you were writing for SGC. I was at the meetup/photowalk last week and they told me to give it a try because they thought it was better than PK. Then I suddenly saw a familiar name when glancing through 👍🏻
@KarinMajoka2 жыл бұрын
Ahhh, I did not know that Silberra is actually the same film stock - good to know, thanks for the info. Good wide angle lenses are hard to find, depending on the mount, but sometimes you can get lucky at "Kamerabörsen" :D Actually, I have not explored the industrial culture all that much yet, but I definitely got interested in it after the day at the Landschaftspark - so I might check out Zeche Zollverein one day. Nice, how was the meet-up? I could not make it unfortunately since I was in Berlin that weekend. And yes, I have been writing a couple of articles for the magazine which has been a lot of fun :)

@@KarinMajoka Yeah it seems I only find 28mm at the Börsen (Fotografica Hilversum, seems to be quite a big one, also with exhibitors from Germany and Belgium) that and if you are lucky 24mm.
