From the 1971 classic rock album Santana III, Everybody's Everything and No One To Depend On (3:57) are performed by guitarist Carlos Santana, keyboardist/vocalist Gregg Rolie (Ringo All-Starr Band), guitarist Neal Schon (Journey), percussionist Mike Carabello and drummer Michael Shrieve (second youngest musician to perform at Woodstock at age 20).
The quintet played together live for the first time since the early Seventies. The Santana IV album includes most of the surviving members from the Santana III lineup for a one-off concert at the House of Blues in Las Vegas, NV on March 21, 2016. Joining the core musicians are later Santana members Karl Perazzo on percussion, Benny Rietveld on bass, and Dave Matthews on keyboards.

When I was younger I listened to my dad's 8 tracks and that included everything from Zeppelin, Hendrix, Grand Funk, James Gang, Black Sabbath, Super Session (Kooper, Bloomfield & Stills) Steely Dan (just to name a few) and Santana! I always felt like Santana music more than just music. It was powerful.....mystical.....mysterious.....and flat out amazing! My dad (life long musician and still rocking) had a great taste of music but those first 3 Santana albums were special to me in ways I can't even describe. That is the power of music and now, over 40 years later, it's just as powerful

It does my heart good to see these guys playing together and having a good time. A lot of water has gone under the bridge, and it seems they've put it all behind them so they can own these amazing and world-beloved songs as a unit. I was at Shoreline amphitheater when Greg Rolie guested at a Santana show after many years of them not appearing together - he walked out unannounced and sat behind his B3 - and the place just came apart - the waves of love from the audience to their long-time local heroes just had to be heard to be felt. They tore into "Everybody's Everything" with huge smiles on their faces - and worked it like a team of sled dogs to a rave-up coda. A peak musical and life moment, trust me...

Santana III was always my fave. Freshman in HS with a borrowed copy, '71 Here on clean vinyl now. Years later, Carlos said getting this line up together again would be like 'dancing with a cadaver'. Pretty harsh. While these live vids are great, I gave the IV disc to my wife. Didn't dig it. Still great they did get it together again.

@@bradkirk99 - I pretty much grew up under the mirrored ball at Winterland - saw just about everyone. Did you know that the first Santana album (the one with the lion on the cover) was recorded live at the Northern California Folk Rock Festival at the Santa Clara County fairgrounds? I was there - they played the album in order, got it on tape, and then did overdubs in the studio...

I'm going to add a little different perspective into this discussion. First, this performance, at this late date in their lives was incredible....it sounds that good and it resonates the power/impact of the original band and recordings on which these tunes are based....just gives me goosebumps to hear these tunes all over....Michael on drums, Greg on organ, Carlos with his signature licks and tone, and here's who I'm coming to, Neal Schon. Wow, I don't care that he went on to a career with Journey......IMHO, Journey sucked and had a largely forgettable collection of recordings. But, I think that Carlos adding Schon as second guitar back in the day and recording a number of tracks where he let Neal go crazy and demonstrate his lightening fast speed and screeching bends on solos in several Santana albums....especially III or the one featuring No One to Depend On.....that just isn't and wasn't done. Guitarists were not inclined to bring in additional guitar talent that could possibly upstage their own guitar work/sound, yet Carlos did exactly that when he brought Schon on board. And, Schon was a child prodigy on guitar.....he was a known commodity....his parents evidently had him try out for 2nd guitar with Eric Clapton during the Dominoes band era after Duane Allman died, according to Bobby Whitlock....that just blows my mind, but when you think of Derek Trucks playing lead guitar at like 10 years old and impressing adults, not difficult to understand how Carlos was probably taken with Neal's playing when he auditioned. Neal had to have been a young guy back then. In short, bravo to Carlos for being big enough to bring Neal on board to boost their guitar sound and add to the richness in tracks he contributed to. I don't think too many people appreciate how much of a talent Schon was/is, and how much he added to Santana.....incredible performance, incredible albums even Santana Uno as everyone knows, what an incredible fresh sound with awesome percussion, Latin groove and guitar, and introducing the instrumental into the rock vocabulary to a largely young audience. What a band, what a leader, and what an incredible array of musical talent throughout the band and thru the years.
