So much of his work to love. After his first 3 albums of Latin rock his music started reflecting his spiritual awakening. This song is beautiful. His most exquisite songs are instrumentals like Song of the Wind, Europa, albums: Caravansari, Welcome, Barboletta, Blues for Salvador, Aquamarine

What a beautiful song. Abraxas is one of the greatest albums ever made. Samba Pa Ti to me is Latin, South American, Soulfull, just wonderful. The organ sound you are talking about I believe, is coming from the Leslie speaker. It's a large speaker with spinning speaker cones on the inside. The player has a switch beside the keyboard, he flips the switch, those speakers go to spinning and creates that wonderful sound. A band I was in had one and it reminded me of a piece of furniture. Ours was about four feet tall, three feet on the sides and made of wood.. It created a great effect if not over used. You can still purchase them, they are around 3500 to 4000 dollars.

This is my number one favorite instrumental song. I first started listening to Santana when I was around 13 years old. This song in particular just speaks to me. Carlos Santana was probably the first guitarist to really catch my attention. In fact, it was Soul Sacrifice from the Woodstock album that drew me in. Carlos has proven to be one of the great music masters, mentors, and humanitarians, over all these decades....and he designs ladies stiletto heels...go figure! I would have chosen a live version, but I wanted you experience the song the same way I did, by listening to it on the Abraxas album.

When I was 15 years old, an uncle of mine sat me down to listen to the Moonflower album by Santana that had just been released. It still is the album that I have been come back to over and over and over again through the years. I also led me to other great albums by Santana. And Samba Pa Ti is one of the best songs he made, even if it isn't on the Moonflower album. In the summer of 2003 I visited Italy and made a walk along the "Cinque Terre" in the morning. In one of the beautiful small villages along the coast I waited for the train to arrive to bring me back to the place I stayed. The village, built on a hillside overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, was close to complete silent around that time (siësta) when suddenly, from an open window, the sounds of this song rolled over the village. It were a few magic minutes. I just sat there, with about four other people on the platform. The world seemed to come to a full stop. And me floating away on the brilliant guitar play of Carlos Santana. I love music, have been to many concerts and have had great moments there. But as far as music goes, I never ever had another experience even close to that time in Italy. Just had to share.

Finally my favorite by Santana - the best, classic - his guitar sings like very few and this one is all love and longing; in my mind. This always makes me listen to Suavecito by Malo. This was part of my life, 70's San Francisco, just hanging in the neighborhood and yes, we would dance.

Legendary instrumental by Carlos. This is on their second album Abraxas, and it was his first recorded studio instrumental. From there, throughout his solo and the band' Santana's careers, he made more great instrumental songs. So many, that I was inspired back in '81, to record just his instrumentals on cassette. Whenever I brought that to gatherings, it blew everyone away. Incredible instrumental compositions- and this was the first.
