Need to ask. I seen you in different kayaks. What are you currently paddling and what’s your favorite kayak so far?

I’ve got two at the moment: one that I use for tournaments and the other that I do most of my recreational fishing out of. I’m currently working on videos to walk through them, but since they’re a ways off... They all have their strengths-it just depends on what’s important to you. The boat in this video is a Native Slayer Max. I use it mostly in tournaments as it’s pedal drive and the club I’m in doesn’t allow motors. Pros: the pedal drive is nice and has instant reverse; the boat is set up for easy installation of electronics Cons: it’s a wet boat (scuppers are below the waterline so it’s always wet inside); limited storage; average stability The recreational fishing is mostly out of an Old Town Predator 13 with a Minn Kota trolling motor. Pros: Lots of storage; good stability; trolling motor Cons: no pedal drive; you need lots of modifications to set up the accessories so they’re not in the way I also had an old Hobie PA14 that you might see in some of the older videos. I hated that boat and sold it to get the Native. Pros: INSANELY stable; lots of storage; pedal drive Cons: it’s huge and heavy which made it diffucult to load and manauever; no reverse on pedal drive Hope this answers your question without being too long winded.

Swear to god man, I do have that same freaking hat and didn't notice it. I got it from Party City and wore it to an 80's themed father daughter dance. We went has Stranger Things characters (a cheat but we had the coolest customers there 7 years ago) I am nervous about this lake man. I am watching a lot of videos on it. You’re gonna LOVE it. It’s the coolest place you’ll ever fish. …and it’s not as if there are Gators everywhere. I’ve been twice with QC and never seen one…and in talking to folks at weigh in, only a handful of guys saw them…and they were small and a long ways off. All that to say, they’re literally a non factor.

What kind of line do you use ?

I’ve got different setups for different situations, but in this video I used 10lbs Berkley Trilene XL mono for cranking. The last fish was caught on a chatter bait and on that setup I use 30lbs Spiderwire braid. I’m probably not the best person to get line advice from because I’m kind of a dinosaur (pun intended) in this respect. I have not made the transition to flouro because it’s expensive, it doesn’t cast very well, and I don’t find it to be any stronger or more sensitive than the other lines. I run straight mono on most slow presentation baits and straight braid on moving baits (except cranks). I know a lot of guys use braid to flouro leader, but again I’m old school and don’t like the idea of introducing additional knots between me and the fish.
