I been living off and on in DR for the past 12 years. I never cared for Sousa. You find quality people in Santo Domingo. I advise my friends to stay away from the tourist area if you are looking for Quality people. I always stayed in the Piantini area. Upscale educated women with jobs and have something going on in life is this area.

I just returned from my third trip to Santo Domingo. Saw more than last, but felt i should have done more but the city is huge and if you try to take too much in, it can be overwhelming. I usually stay in and around the Colonial Zone and explore that area. Was invited to a party in one of the barrios in the NW corner of the city, got some Dominican hospitality( local driver of course who knew the area well-Definitely get two drivers on the roster you can trust). We also ate at some new spots. I swore I wouldn't eat at an American chain, but my favorite chicken spot on El Conde was packed, so i went to the nearby KFC and damn..i was thinking about that meal the next day it was so good lol..When I got back to work in the states, I tried a couple of pieces of KFC and no comparison. People try to tell me SD is dirty (same folks who won't leave Sosua), high traffic, etc but I love the city and i'm not a city person here in the states. Sunday night on the Malecon, families camped out eating, drinking until 2 in the morning..no fighting, shooting or people tearing things up. I agree about the nationalism. This was actually my first trip to the island without going to Sosua and truthfully, I don't feel i've missed anything. Great video and narration brother. Can't wait to get back.

Bruh, i lived in DR for 12 years. Sosua is where the bottom feeders are. We always go to Santo Domingo. Some fellas wanted to visit Sosua, I took them there, and they hated the quality of women they saw. Santa Domingo has all class of women. If you are use to the top tier women, you will find them in Santo Domingo.

I have a story almost identical to the one you told at the end LoL, one of my friends , we'll both ex-military and now overseas contractors for 10-15 years and he was always going to Thailand and the Philippines for fun and R&R but once I told him about the Dominican Republic and he visited for the first time, it was over. Now he been visit the DR 3 or 4 times a year for the last 15 years.

I have not had any problems bring people over. The person at the front desk will ask them for a ID in most cases. But always be careful.
