unless I'm writing on a receipt, I use fountain pens exclusively and so the original TRP was my holy grail. I tried the new Sanzen paper a few months ago and I quite love it. It feels slightly more substantial than the original TRP, but it still has the crinkle I love when the pages are used. I might even prefer the Sanzen to the original TRP.

The Sanzen paper does feel more substantial, but still lightweight. I’m really impressed with it but I don’t know if I prefer it over the old paper. I’ll have to write on a Sanzen notebook or planner consistently to tell! I love how much emphasis is put on good paper in the fountain pen community :)

I tested it out today with the sample included in this year’s Hobonichi’s. I like it quite a bit as well. I’m glad Hobonichi included a sample.

Nice video, just spoiled a wee bit by some of the 'action' being off screen to the right. But, apart from that, very informative and you've laid my mind at rest regarding the new Tomoe River paper, thanks!!

hmmm... another youtuber reviewed the new paper and found it to be a bit more scratchy vs the old one. She also noted that it absorbed inks more/faster. She hadn't tested it with a fountain pen and watercolors but with the absorption characteristics, I'm a little concerned. [edit] lmao as soon as I published my comment, you tested with a non-dip pen and observed the scratchiness too

The paper is different, but overall, still a solid choice for hobonichi moving forward. We will see how it goes when I have the sanzen paper in notebook format!

The sounds when you write on the paper with the glass pen is ✨✨✨✨
