Just had a revelation when I realized that the reason he can't find the tutorial NPC is because the Guildmaster of the Midnight Black Cats stole the NPC. This abridged series has great continuity.

Fun fact: The digital static effect from Yui’s summoning sword is not in the original. Something Witty added that effect to flesh out Yui’s character as more of an AI hacking into the system, rather than keeping her as another anime cliche of girl-with-big-sword.

I love how this abridged series sprinkles in social commentary about the poor working conditions of the video game industry and how the toxicity of gaming communities can easily get out of hand (Kuradeel’s blood lust, Kayaba’s frustration with not being able to please his audience, the riot in Colonia, Schmidt’s harassment from his followers making him a nervous wreck, Grimlock’s misogyny, etc).

Has nothing to do with the abridged version, but I just love how it took them forever to find the MASSIVE Tower connected to the upper floor on the first floor. Not like it’s literally the biggest thing visible or anything
