*George Curzon, the British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (1911-1921):* _"We must put an end to anything which brings about any Islamic unity between the sons of the Muslims. As we have already succeeded in finishing off the Ottoman Caliphate, so we must ensure that there will never arise again unity for the Muslims, whether it be intellectual or cultural unity."_

Alhamdulillah. Muslims have created divisions amongst themselves. If their intention is to be "a single minded slave Allah" that would be prosperous now and in the hereafter. Unfortunately, the bulk of muslims do not live in that state, therefore you have the Current state of muslims.

One of the cool perks of being Muslim in times like these is that having to defend Islam teaches us a lot about how the world actually works. 95% of these liberalized kaafirs are ignorant of things that are common sense because of how distorted their perception of the world is.

Hearing a Muslim talk about "distorted perceptions of the world" is like hearing a fish say he never goes near the water. WFT? The reason why Islam produces so few scholars is because as they get educated on Islam, they become Christians.

We cannot hide forever behind the argument that your measure of human well-being is not good enough for us. Economics is of course important for human flourishing and Islam has a way to organically to do that. Our societies have big big corruptions (bribery, tribalism, nepotism, laziness, etc) which stops us from prospering. Another point is that, we as Muslims are the low point and we compare ourselves to the peak of the western world. Tide cannot turn overnight. We have to first learn our religion and apply it to our daily lives and transactions. Secondly we have to gain the knowledge of government, law, systems building, modern science and engineering and make this knowledge fluent in our societies. Only then we can build (social, economic, engineering and scientific) structures/institutions which can compete with the west. Otherwise we will keep claiming a moral upper hand while having endemic corruption in our societies.

Assalamualaikum, much needed topic, indeed for a community as big as this Ummah, we need to wake up all of us. People like all of us should try our best both in deen and also dunya, whether knowledge or sport or economics, IT DOES MATTER NOW. It is a form of sadaqah in of itself as you are setting a role model and inspiring others of what Islam is truly capable of. Added to that, once achieved such success, be our best to be humble and try everything in our resources at hand to make people aware and support the oppressed people like Palestinians or uyghurs or Yemenis, and not be arrogant and forget our TRUE purpose of achieving this success, as seen by a few people in the Ummah they become completely different, people pleasers and don't even care about the other Muslims, while more number honest non muslims raise such an issue, this is the sad reality, WE STILL NEED A SENSE OF BROTHERHOOD AND UNITY IN THE UMMAH, yet, despite what we already have, we still have work to do, and Insha Allah, we can do this by being a good Muslim in our local spheres, like we know the saying by Khabib goes non muslims won't read the Qur'an and the sunnah, they will read you and who you are to learn about Islam. May Allah SWT bless, protect and guide us all Ameen summa ameen.

@Sapience @MohammadHijab I liked the question regarding the Current Condition of Muslims, Insha Allah I will try to give my opinion in a vlog on that topic because I am not satisfied with the answer. You are on right track but I feel you like trying to diagnose the leaves of a tree than the root cause. The comment below from Muhammad Abdullah is actually very accurate "George Curzon, the British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (1911-1921)" The downfall of Islam started in motion approximately 100 years after the death of the Prophet Muhammad Salah Allah 3alahi was salam (Peace and blessing be upon him), Although some attempts/correction/revival of Islam by Umar Ibn Abd el Aziz, after that it was an accelerated downward trend, nevertheless Islam (Complete way of life/Holistic) was abandoned and when it was at the weakest point in 1800 -> present, what the enemies feared was the revival or resistance so they hatched a plan to enslave mankind and break all hopes and they had succeeded in 1912 (The generation from 1912 till now are the most ignorant in Islam, maybe less than 0.1% actually know and I am not talking about the pillars of Islam, I am talking about the perfect system prescribed to us from Allah and example of the prophet. Islam is a complete way of life and offers the best solution to every situation). Unfortunately, after having spoken to members from different groups, I realised they are the furthest away from an understanding of Islam at the very best and most educated only implement 3% of Islam. It is a good start to make a discussion and really understand and know the reasons for our failure. Also, no country is free we are still very much occupied and you don't need to have visibility of a foreign army, our most ignorant leaders are the best of the best slaves to Dajjal! The sooner we all start to wake up to reality, the sooner we can start to bring back Islam. We are today like the dirt and foam of bubbles on the ocean as the Prophet said we would be large in number but low-value Muslims. I have a lot to share so I will insha Allah will try to record a video soon.

A proposed amendment in the US must be first passed by two-thirds of both houses of congress, or by two-thirds of the senate. But then needs to be ratified by three-fourths of the state legislatures, or by ratification conventions in three-fourths of the states. Last one was 30 years ago that made it a law that if the congress changed their salaries it wouldn’t take effect till after the next election. One before that was 50 years ago changing the voting age from 21 to 18.

But practically speaking, the people hold the power, or the rich and powerful, or some other group. Any of these groups if they willed, could enforce something that contradicted the Shari'ah. So I think that saying that putting the power in the hands of the people (democracy) is wrong because the people could rule against what Allah has commanded is a mistaken critique, as any other group (or person) in power could do the same.

2- We already agreed the division of branches of science and its growth. The old concepts of natural philosophy got birth the natural sciences or SCIENCE like the example at 19:20. The same is the political ideas, the econommy and ways to deal with these tens of fields of intellectual history and specializations today like ideologies of nationalism, race superiorities, cryptocurrencies, machine learning and cybersecurity. An obesse guy a sultan just for being a nice man from quraish or that he is a man of great mind. The problems of today are more than what one person can solve. But he can do decisions as a modren day president which later a free citizens of an institution with their institutional laws can implement. So, we need to agree that a Sultan can't legislate every subject of public interest like that of traffic lights, customs, machine learning, space agencies and astranautics. That is an overwellming duty and there must be institutions and the Sultan can be only symbolic. He can't be active and democracy although a foreign term which has its bad history and emotions is the practice of humanity, infact arabs, black nations and all of muslim society has civil democracies in diffent levels although not called democracy. It is the natural way of coming to decision as a group. So, we can use our centuries old words but it is the same which beduin arabs, somalis and senegalis used to come to terms not in a parliament house but under a tree or in a wadi. Democracy is our own practice and the Sultan doesn't need to take part the diyah or bloodmoney of an indian muslims in Jakarta, Fez, Basra or Acra. The locals need to use means of reconciling in their context and figure out of ways to do if camels, cows, gold or money then local court may rule through these local laws. When we talk about Hukm allah or the authority of god and people that do legislation is a complex issue but not necessarilly that people reject the general laws of Shariah, it is just basing it on local circumstances. Even if the Sultan meddles directly or indirectly through representatives it will be through unnecessary procedures which will make or can make the things complex. Because, authorities have a symbolic gesture to show power or they see things through the lenses of power and authority. This can lead to the need of waiting the blessing of the sultan. Making sure that he is informed about all incidents and doing salutations, praising poems and military parades or even hanging pictures. There is no end to these stuff when it is a huge geographical entity ruled by a single sultan and it can be as natural as a modern state but symbology of power may creep like that long tobe of mu'awiyyah bin sufyan that was criticized or his physique. It needs first linguistic approach, then historic andlast but not least a philosohical one.

Look, even in democracy you can't as an ordinary person vote for the rules you want applied or against the rules being applied. Some constitutional democracies the constitution is the highest law. So if you wanted Shariah law, you just have to write down what it is in a book and call it the constitution of your island and people can participate in by laws: like which side of the road to drive on, whether working hours should be set legally, whether shops can stay open all night, if vaccines should be mandated, if they should rather have more Mma gyms or boxing gyms, if they should stockpile wheat or flour. There's such a lot of things that aren't specifically addressed in the Shariah. A legal system can only be premised on the Shariah, but the Shariah itself isn't an actual legal system. It was also developed into a legal system over centuries and the Muslims also incorporated other legal systems used to govern Empires prior to them ruling and amended whatever went against the laws of Allah. What is the Shariah exactly? Is it ISIS or Iran? Is it what the Taliban has? Is it the derived law or the laws itself mentioned in the Quran? Is it the laws mentioned in the Hadith. Is it the laws mentioned in the fiqh books? Is it the laws as it relates to Arab historical customs? Because the laws in the Quran are often said to be abrogated by laws in the Quran. The laws in the Hadith are a lot more than in the Quran and also abrogates the Quran they say. And often the jurists of the fiqh tradition simply chose what they would ignore from both texts to make ruling (juristic preference). So you have those issues to work on. I hope you will use your amazing mind internally to look critically at our own legal tradition instead of merely focusing on the West who are actually babies compared to us. But we have work to do internally. A group of honest scholars need to sit together and codify a legal system based on the sources the way jurists did in the past. Otherwise you end up with ISIS who insist they're following the Shariah and because our historical scholars had very diverse opinions they could in one sense make that claim, unless the brilliant people like yourself sit with others and start to sift through our legal tradition. Park to one side the things that are Qati' and interpret the rest based on what you know of politics, economics and the world today.

Spanish colonialism had nothing to do with the underdevelopment of Latin-America. Their under development came as a result of the independence from the empire. New Spain (Today Mexico) and other Spanish territories such as Peru were more developed than most American cities. Mexico as a newly formed republic had a stronger currency than the US in the early 1800s. The Latin-American under development came as a result of the internal political unrest through out the 19th century and the involvement of foreign powers such as the British in the mid to late 19th century and then the US later on in the 20th century to keep the new republics as subordinated as possible, weak and controllable. Same thing happened in Africa, the Soviet Union and the Middle east.

@@MohamedMohamed-ws7mq Could be, but in reality Spain never really practiced 'Colonialism' as the other European powers did in the 19th century. I used that term to make it fit the context and narrative of what he was saying. That term refers to a specific era in the 1800s. Spain discovered and conquered America 300 years before that. The Spanish Empire method of governing its territories slightly changed through the centuries, but the key one and the one that differentiates it from the rest of European empires was that Spain tried to replicate itself into those territories, much like the Roman Empire, Spain built little Spains in the new conquered territories. This meant Spain had to include the people that 'lost the war' into their empire, respecting their land and treating them the same as their own citizens. This differed a lot from the Anglo-Saxons way of conquering, who either exterminated or subordinated the aboriginals.

1- Yes, Islamic civilisation had 1400 yrs of rich history which is almost a 1000 yrs of empire & rulership. Although it is common sense that i had its ups and downs. The richness of political language, laws and pioneering laws were made including the marine laws, the tariffs and others which muslims invented them as laws for all people of different faiths. As we know since these books of political, philosophical and religious litterature aren't translated into other languages there will be crosstalking. Even our most needed philosophy books are not translated. The likes of Al-Ghazali and Ibn Cina are to be discovered in west, not on spanish but in english. The rest of modern language have lesser chance. So, there is a crosstalk and we speak about similar concepts like Shura', mu'awafaqah, bay'ah and 'ahd. These terms of like bay'ah which is social contract + giving power are mistranslated into todays context. The terms of religion = deen, laws = shariah are also words which agree in things and differ in things. What do i mean? Hyonym and hypernyms are many in translation and reading literature. Islam is a religion but not what religion means in western context or pure lexical meaning. Deen on the other hand entails belief, but has the root word of conduct and behaving well. Not only dogma and sacrifice. While shariah has parts of personal to god and person to person, state & institutions, unlike western laws which is person to person or person to state and institutions. So, difference can be person to god part. The most problems lie linguistics first and then philosophy and morality. Not, the status quo of today. We need to focus that.

Lack of political awareness and involvement is also a major cause of our condition. Our muslim identity is not restricted to worship at our homes, but to solve global problems which can only be done through politics. If we trace back in history, this is quite evident from our beloved prophet (pbuh) and his companions and hundred of years from there on. So basically: lack of leadership.

Good effort, but this is quite a confused discussion. Started off on why Muslims are where we are today, but then veered off into a rather ill-informed discussion about democracy. It was as if none of the participants had ever studied political science or political philosophy apart from some dumb khawarij style pamphlets that said "judgement is for God alone". There are many reasons why the democratic system is compatible with Islamic governance and the objections to it can be largely overcome through constitutionalism. There are many forms of democratic governance and democracy is also not just about elections. It is about 4 things principally: (1) Free and fair elections, (2) Open and accountable government, (3) civil and political rights, (4) a democratic or civil society and institutions. These are all compatible with Islam.

The prophet is the epitome of the guidance of the Quran. There is this verse in the Quran that he is a light to show to light. Means you need a teacher. His name is Al Muslim, the greatest teacher. Also, he is the prophet which means the Warner and showing glad tidings. A hadith is also mentioned that his wife May Allah exalt her said that he was the walking Quran. There is also this hadith Quran can misguide and guide as well. As it is a powerful book if not used right can be very dangerous.

What knowledge is that which you cannot emulate and be a better person. So the One God who is present even now has said that everything is in the Quran. Even imam Ali said this. So the knowledge is present the world is present. You know what isn't present? Our ability to decipher it in these modern times. The world is His. It was always his. Everutning happens due to Him. This is why we are a scattered ummah. We betrayed ourselves for nothing. You cannot study anything without a teacher. I don't think sharia and democracy necessarily are in contradiction. It's the same dichotomy arising from mind vs revelation, destiny vs free will. However there's no contradiction there too. If you look at your daily life, you are free to act, but within the framework of sharia. In other words sharia doesn't micromanage down to your daily actions and structures. It gives you guidelines but then what specific things you wanna do is up to you as long as you fulfill your daily rituals and your actions are sharia compliant/halal. So the democracy should not underwrite sharia guidelines, but used for minor issues. It's the matter of extent.
@PATH2JUNNAH

That's incorrect and flawed understanding of democracy. Democracy is when humans are allowed to legislate and decide what is right and wrong from their own minds. Which is the total opposite of Islam. Making decisions on a day to day basis is not democracy. There is a huge difference between the two.

@@koroglurustem1722 key point here is based on the Sharia. Shoora is a consultation and the process may have a voting procedure this does not make it democracy. Alot of people think democracy is to make a vote this is incorrect. Islam gave human beings both men and women the right to vote over 1400 years ago when it came to electing and giving baya. Democracy does not have the monopoly on voting rather voting in democracy is used as a tool to keep the masses at ease to think that they actually have a choice.

So many weaknesses in your arguments here: The biggest index of economic success is migration trends. The net migration from Muslim land to the West is much higher. The Nobel Prize in science (not peace) is actually a good indicator of scientific contribution. The colonialism argument falters at one question: why were you colonised? Were you weak? Isn’t God on your side? Didn’t God promise his nation victory? You make excuses for why the West innovated like coal and the war. The West invented the steam engine, trains, electricity, penicillin, were all invented before the war. Why has Islam failed to contribute to anything since it’s short golden age? Coal helped Britain but why hasn’t oil helped the Muslims to innovate? Also why do Muslims in the West fail? Have you been to Bradford? High crime, bad driving, fraud. The actual reason is that Muslims are fatalists and they don’t believe in the importance of Dunya. The Muslims of al Andalus did. If you look at the speech of Tariq ibn Ziyad before he invaded Al Andalus you’ll notice how he doesn’t mention the hereafter once, it was about worldly glory.

There is o my one way in Paradise and that is through the Lord Jesus Christ, who died for our sins on the cross and rose again the third day for our justification. We have all broken Gods laws and the Torah says those that fail to obey and keep the Law are CURSED. God is a just and righteous God and will hold all accountable for breaking His Law. But God is merciful and sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to do what we have all failed to do, obey the Law and FULFILL it . Jesus also took our place and punishment on the cross and took the curse due us and paid the debt we owed. That’s why Jesus says “It is Finished.” His resurrection is proof that Gods wrath was served and justice was carried out. Now God can pardon the sinner without compromising His justice. The choice is simple my Muslim friends, either you take full responsibility for breaking Gods laws and go to hell or accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and go to heaven: “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him”. You may find genocide in Deuteronomy, if you look carefully, and rape marriage prescribed for some people. But you will not find any prescription of injustices to different people or customs in the Quran.
