What I learnt: The Arabic "kull", which is usually translated as "every", doesn't have to imply a absolute totality, but can also used in a more general sense meaning "alot/many/wide-number" , and in fact Imam Suyuti (born 500 years ago) wrote a book on this word Kull and showed multiple examples of where the word "kull" CANNOT mean a totality of everything.

And GMO's that you eat (yes!!!) aren't a matter of belief, but rather a product of genetical engineering. And an impossible thing is a thing that is impossible, wich means that if there's an account on that, the account isn't true in all or part. And i've never said i'm an atheist. My grandfather is a Scholar of Islam and in his book, ''Scientific Probe into the Holy Quran'', he debunks the myth of a global flood and Noah carrying every species onto his Ark. The flood was very much a localized flood to punish the people of Noah (not to punish the entire world), and Noah was advised to carry a pair each of his cattle & livestock, that would aid in his survival. Muslims have unfortunately adopted Biblical stories.

@@antoniorocha3967 I don't think you were paying attention. The idea that there was a worldwide flood is something biblical, not Quranic. We are under no obligation to therefore believe that the flood literally annihilated every living species. Just an amount in the particular area.
@antoniorocha3967
@antoniorocha3967 3 жыл бұрын
@@zackkahn6992 Well, the thora is one (five, in fact) of the biblical textes that are considered sacred by islam, and although propaganda states that the biblical textes were corrupted, we have manuscripts from before the seventh century (when that claim was made) and even before the time of Jesus (wich is one of the most researched historical figures, so we know that the christian traditions about Jesus, regardless the belief of him being divine, are pretty accurate), amoung the Dead sea scrolls, that show us that the bible is pretty much the same today as it was in those days, you must accept the biblical version as sacred. For me, as a skeptic, the biblical version is inspired by the sumerian accounts, and those accounts are based on an historical flood that ocurred in mesopotamia, i don't recall when but maby around five to seven thousand years ago?... And the Qur an account is obviously based on the biblical one. You are under no obligation to believe or not in anything, you are free to choose according to your conscience. Even if you live in a religious dictatorship (wich only occur in the islamic world today and in medieval Europe) and you must present yourself according to the dogma, you're free in your mind. I can assure you that both the biblical and the Qur anic accounts are legendary. And even the sumerian, although, as legends always go, based on real events. And if you wonder why do the flood accounts seem to be universal, i can answer you that also. But i don't think you'll be that interested anyways.

@@antoniorocha3967 you have too many misconceptions here and there, the most that irks me is you place the quran on par to the bible. Bible is just an account of Jesus, the last verse in Gospel of John testify to this. It's not the word of God per se. It's a man's word accounting Jesus' life on earth. ________________________ As-Sajdah: 2-3 This scripture, free from all doubt, has been sent down from the Lord of the Worlds. Yet they say, ‘Muhammad has made it up.’ No indeed! It is the Truth from your Lord for you [Prophet], to warn a people who have had no one to warn them before, so that they may be guided. ________________________ You may say it's a circular reasoning to prove Quran with the Quran itself, but I'm not going there yet. The point is, bible lacks such bold verses. It's clearly different from Quran.
@antoniorocha3967
@antoniorocha3967 3 жыл бұрын
@@andiakram1829 I'm sure you didn't mean to say that the bible is just accounts of the life of Jesus. That's only the gospels in the second testament. The bible is a small library, with books from cosmogony, history, morals, laws... It's huge, when compared with the Qur an. And i can say that, i've read both. And yes, it's considered inspired by God, not God's word, word by word, wich is much more acceptable. If i want to pass a text as sacred, i will write in it that it's God's own message, maby, why not? that God wrote it or dictate it himself. You can't search for evidences for the Qur an as a divine work inside the Qur an. Of course, it will say everything to show it is indeed. You must search for those evidences outside it. Maby i'm biased when addressing that topic, but then again, aren't you much, much more?

I would have liked the argument better if you presented an example such as: "the house is on fire!! Grab everyone and get out!" The context of 'everyone' is obviously not 7 billion people. The same for Noah a.s. Everything of what he would have had. Probably a few goats and sheep. Also the Quranic text is very clear it was a local event when it states 'We drowned them' specifically talking about Noah's people.

@vp4qo
@vp4qo Жыл бұрын
This flood of Noah is not from the Epic of Gilgamesh it is not an "obvious copy" I have read it the Epic of Gilgamesh it only has a small part of the flood and that's not with Gilgamesh it's with a figure called Utnapishtim who was told by the god Enki in a dream that a flood was going to happen and after the flood happens Utnapishtim lands on Mount Nisir and the Gods sad that humanity is gone realizes Utnapishtim survives and makes him immortal It's similar sure but not an obvious copy Secondly there is nowhere where similar language is used or the Epic of Gilgamesh is quoted in the Bible or Quran there are parallels but there is actually a whole range of flood myths in Mesopotamia there is another flood myth by the sumerians who mention the gods tried to send a flood to destroy humanity it's called the Eridu Genesis there's another flood myth by the Babylonians with a figure named Atra-Hasis there's another zoroastrian flood myth where Ahura Mazda warns a figure named Yima of melting snow that will cause a flood I can go on there's are similar flood stories that are called flood myths around the world. We Muslims believe every nation was sent a prophet and if Noah's flood was true and Noah landed on Mount Ararat we would expect of nations and civilizations around Mesopotamia to talk about Noah and the story of Noah would slowly change over time and our prophets to every nation could have talked about Noah as he 1 out of 5 of the most important prophets in Islam.

But again if the Quran copied from the Bible than it should have said that the entire world was flooded and that all animals outside the ark died. This major difference implies that the Quran is not reliant on the bible but rather corrects the bible like in many other situations. Please answer my questions.

Quran confirms the previous books, it does not correct it. Because the Quran never mentions the previous books being textual corrupted; but to be interpreted wrongly. Or forgeries written claiming to be from God.

It is probably because Arabic was one of the richest languages, the Arabs had a remarkable memory, its speak-ability was eloquent, its memorization was relatively easy, its geographical importance was immense, and that it had to be sent down in a language that would neither change nor disappear as time would go by, and this is true considering how Arabic is a major language in about 20+ countries around the world even today and that it is as alive and very similar (the verses of the Quran are exactly the same as they were 1400+ years ago, with a proof being the comparison of one of the the oldest copies of the Quran contemporarily present in the Birmingham Museum vs. any Quran of today) to modern Arabic. And of course since Prophet Muhammad SAWW was an Arab, it was sent down in Arabic.

The trouble with pretending the story isn't supposed to be a worldwide flood is that if it was a local flood, you don't need to build an ark and stock it with 'every' animal. It makes the whole story trivial and nonsensical. It reduces God's power to something indistinguishable from any other natural occurrence. A story about a man who rescued a few of his sheep from a local flood is not exactly impressive, is it.

@@geennaam4576 where does it say 'in their region'? The Quran merely says that Allah told Noah to take 2 of every kind of animal. And since the text goes on to say that the ark came to rest on a mountain, this means the flood has to be far too large to leave no trace. We know there was no flood of that size. We know that it is impossible to take 2 of every animal into an ark. The story is myth, not fact.

@bengreen171
@bengreen171 Жыл бұрын
@@geennaam4576 I'm assuming neither. If you read my first comment carefully, you will note that there are implications for the options. If it is a local flood - then the story becomes trivial, and problematic, since it implies that the only people to survive the flood were Noah and his family. But we know that this didn't happen. The vast majority of people did not drown in the flood - if the flood was local. It also renders the idea of collecting 2 of EVERY animal pointless, since clearly, not all animals lived near Noah, and so the idea that noah was saving them is wrong. But if the flood is worldwide, then the story is false - since we know there wasn't a worldwide flood. The only thing the story says about the extent of the water is a reference to the ark coming to rest on a mountain. This necessarily implies that the flood was not a local flood - since no local flood would be deep enough to cover a mountain, and yet not cover a vast area of the globe. So the story is clearly not true. If the flood was local, the waters wouldn't cover a mountain. If the flood was extensive or worldwide, we would see evidence of it, but literally none exists.

Secondly, keep in mind that back at that time, the earth wasnt populated by as many people as today ( only 7 centuries ago, world population was around 0.35-0.4 billion people. It is now 10 - 13 Billion people) . So Noah's region could have easily been surrounded by alot of uninhabited places and therefor, saving all the animals that lived in his region ( bc it doesnt state ALL THE ANIMALS IN THE WORLD) was crucial for him and his followers to be able to continue living in a funcional society after the flood was over. Noah pbuh is said to have lived around the area where iraq is nowadays. And his ark rested at mount Judi, which is literally only an 8 hours drive from the centre of iraq. So this could easily be made sense of

I have a explanation of this verse but only Allah knows if it is right or wrong. So my explanation is as follows: It is only Allah's responsiblity to look after all the living things He created. We as a human have very little impact for the well being of other living creatures. So in no way Allah will command a human being to save all of His creature from flood. After all it is Allah's responsiblity and only He is capable of doing that. If He ordered Nuh (A) to bring all the animals in pair to save them it makes Allah incapable of doing so (astagfirullah). Which is very wrong. I want to add a story of Sulaiman (A) and a fish. This story is not in hadith so it's authenticity is not known. But it is a good story to understand the the concept of living creatures relying only on Allah. The story is: Al-Qushayri said, ‘It was said that Prophet Sulaymaan (Solomon), may Allah exalt his mention, asked his Lord, the Almighty, to authorize him to invite and feed all the animals one day, so Allah permitted him to do so. So Sulaymaan started gathering food for a long time, then Allah sent him one fish from the sea, and it ate everything that Sulaymaan had been gathering for a long time. Then the fish asked Sulaymaan for more food, and Sulaymaan said, ‘I have nothing left,’ and he asked the fish, ‘Do you eat the same thing every day?’ The fish said, ‘My sustenance is three times this much every day, but Allah did not feed me today except what you have given me; I wish that you did not invite me as I stayed hungry today because I was your guest.’’ So as we can see humans are incapable of look after all the living creatures Allah has created. So now the question arise is what did Allah mean by 'Every pair'? To understand this, first visualise this: what will happen after a heavy rainfall, long period of flood? Definitely most of the living creatures will die. Fields will become barren. Trees and grass will die. And when the flood stopped you are basically left with a place where there is very little or no trees, grass, animals, foods to survive. So the explanation is when Allah said "Every pair" He basically meant pair of animals and living creatures which is necessary for you, important for you, somehow make you survive in the boat while it is flooding and after the flood stopped. So the concept here is that, Nuh (A) is not ordered to save all of Allah's creature but to save themselves and some of the local animals which area is to be flooded. Now use your imagination and intelligence, if your area is to be flooded which animals has value to you and which of the animals you want to be rescued. So, every pair may include livestocks such as : sheep, cow, chicken, camel etc. Pet animals such as: Dogs, cats etc. Trees, which requires both male and female to give fruits, such as apples, pears, cherries. Other local valuable animals such as: some birds. Ofcourse you dont want to board in a ship with a venomous snake or a hungry tiger. If thats so, imagine Nuh (a) walking around years after years from north to south, east to west, just to collect and save all the species from earth. That's not his job anyway.

As Salamo Alikom, I agree that "Kull" may not mean every single thing. However, the narrative of the story as a whole alludes at "every single thing". Why would Noah's mean of survival be to build a ship, he simply could walk away from the area to be flooded. Why worry about other creatures nearby? In other stories other creatures were not taken along with the prophets. Why Noah's descendants were reported to be the only survivors of mankind? Also the water sources of the flood were mentioned in clear exaggeration to illustrate the huge amount. I believe geologists had found evidance of many worldwide catastrophes including floods. They found also massive underground water reservoirs. Human DNA has many bottlenecks, and some time ago all people descended from one man and multiple women! Some animals today are suffering from genetic bottlenecks and lack enogh biodiversity e.g. cheetahs. Flood signs in earth strata in the Americas shows signs of flooding synchronized by massive extinctions of large animals. All of these scientific signs happened roughly at the same time worldwide. For how all animals may have been kept in a single ship, Hollywood have a good answer. Animals rushed by themselves and stayed in a hibernation-like state of suspended animation. I believe it is quite possible narrative a worldwide flood destroyed everything on land. Later, land was repopulated from a selected sample from the gene pool.

Also if it is as huge as that, then that's not something you can just walk away from due to the sea aswell. To Noah and his group being the only survivors could be that perhaps humans didn't encompass the entire world in his time? Honestly im just throwing out some ideas but it seems plausible :P

@@abilan8442 Good response! The question was the possibility of a worldwide flood, not that of a limited phenomenon! If you read the Quranic narrative in Arabic, you note the synchronized tone, grammer structure, and word selection all support a worldwide event. The Sumerian tablet of Gilgamesh and science support this too. My point is the most likely meaning of the Quranic story that it was a worldwide event, and this is not far fetched from scientific understanding.

The flood of the Quran is not a universal flood. Noah was a Prophet sent to a nation. They refused his message. Hence that nation was flooded. It is possible however though that the nation of Noah was the only nation alive at that time

U r right noah a.s Was sent to a nation and most probates to Nation which was powerful and and great Nation Like the old egyptian empire or Persien empire or the Roman empire or the islamic umayya or abbassid or Ottmar or british empire or the sovjet empire These empires had a central government but they were very large and their Influence and fame reached even farther So it was a well known Nation a strong and wide spread Nation Now it is not important that all the people of this Nation were drowned or directly effected by the flood For example Roman empire Was very big but capital and Center was Rom City and Later constantinople which is today Istanbul If for example noah a.s came to the Roman people in italy Where the capital and the Center was from where all the Orders and everything of the empire was run and influenced Then it if only a great Part of Rom City and a Part of italy the central area of the empire the heart of the empire would be flooded and destroyed The it is quite logical And the Story i mean the incidents news would reach all oder the empire And even the captured areas and neighbouring nations and even to Planes where the Name Rom was known And so would the tale of noah a.s his Ship his Warnings etc reach to a very large Population That is also why we find the Story in many different countries and nations All ancient famous nations civilizations Most probably those nations were indirectly affected by this flood Their trade could have been effected their travel Routes and even the servivers who would flee and take refuge in neighbouring countries would bring the tale with them which The remaining people of The Powerful Nation whose central Power and area or its great Part was destroyed by the flood They were not able to hold the empire They would be Attacked Their Land crops Ressources destroyed They were broken So either they repented or they fled or they were enslaved or killed They could have been killed by famine as the after effect of the disaster Or by Invasion of other nations which took the opportunity to take over And ofcourse there are the survivers with noah a.s The Heroes of the Story The also had their Part in spreading the tale of this incident bcoz it Was Allahs Sign for his prophet and warning for evil doers And of course they surviving other peoples and the neighbouring nations who were partially and indirectly effected by the disaster and ofcourse they felt some sense of fear and Respect Towards God or if not in god then nature But it Was a big Event and engraved in their minds So eventually people wanted to be associated with the hero and pious or good Person of the incident So the tale with generally the same base plot and almost same end Result With a bit different Variations addings Fantasies and change of names sometimes translational changes which over time changed a bit more And the nations claiming the flood took in their area and the hero survived the flood in a boat with his family and followers and Animals Bcoz he Was fortold by a divine being about the disaster Well that all is a hypothetic Only to explain how it could have been And how it is most logical And how it does not contradict the holy Quran And also does not contradict scientific geological historical and geographical Environmental evidence And possibilities In my option the the area where noah a.s was send is ancient Mesopotamia It was the craddle of civilization and after adam a.s the people had become evil and idolaters So the powerful ancient Nation the so called old world the Oldest civilization Was almost wiped out And its Story was spread all over its empire And then New nations began to rise These nations were according my opinion already present but not as powerful big strong and influential like the Mesopotamien empire The Nations which rised after that were the egyptians the Indus valley people the Persien And the chinese After that the Syrien canaanites yemen Anatolien and some african nations bcame famous and powerful and left their Mark And they had also prophets as warners and guiders And some of them were again destroyed by disasters bcoz of rejecting Gods Massage and his prophets And by exceeding evil deeds Some were forgiven after repenting Some were later punished trough Invasion of other nations some Protected trough prophets like the case of prophet yousaf a.s in egypt These incidents and stories in the Quran tell us a universal lesson a General pattern of how Allah Deals with evil doers And how nations rise and fall And it doesnt matter how powerful they are And even the nations and kimgdoms created started and ruled By prophets and their successors and other righteous kings and Leaders do perish when they divert from the right path when the become Idle When they forget the teachings and Do not Apply those teachings anymore And when they trat people with injustice cruelty and do favours to their friends and family and influemtial rich peoples When people get greedy And so many other causes In Quran there are about 30 or less prphets names mentioned But Allah says i habe sent messenger a warner to every Nation evey tribe every dwelling And in different periods Allah says we never bring punishment or we never destroy a town or dwelling or what ever u call it Unless we have sent a warner to them So it meins there muss have come thousands of messengers in the World to different nations And a hadith of holy Prophet pbuh Supports the Quran It is being told in the hadith that there came about 124000 prophets or messengers in the World The words can be different but the Subject is same Even if we dont take the Word or the number 124000 literally it emphasizes that a huge number of prophets came Were sent to different nations and in different periods And Allahs teaching is universal and He is just and fair He is not only the god of Middle east or Europe But also african nations Amrican and south amrican nations Indonesien Islands And China Japan Thailand vietnam Burma India persia Turkey Russia Romans and Greeks and even Australia fiji hawaii and caribeans Islands

The quran doesn't say its a local flood. If we are trying to take the verses completely literally, it suggests a global flood. But if we dont take them completely literally, then it may be both local or global.

But how is a non-muslim arab with no knowledge of arabic able to understand this? Why does God make it confusing?
@cyclonemt
@cyclonemt 3 жыл бұрын
God does not make it confusing. People confuse themselves, who don't have knowledge. If you don't know, then don't jump to conclusions and assumptions which is what the wicked arrogant ego-inflated people do. Simply be humble, and be grateful to know the clear cut evidences that you do know that has enlightened you with certainty about the truth of Prophethood and the Qur'an, and life after death, our Creator, and the purpose of life.

Even a arab with knowledge of arabic might not understand the Qur'an properly .hence we have tafsir by reputable scholars to explain stuff and we rely on the experts .just like that we rely on the experts .it's not like every arab will be able to deal with this contention and even if they did pretty sure some things in islam would still not be clear unless they gain knowledge hence knowledge is important.

your question is already answered in the video. not all earth was filled with flood in this view. i add one or two points here: we dont know if pig was haraam at the time of Noah alaihissalam in the commands given to Him. and this view that was expressed in the video says that not all earth was flooded so in other parts of earth pigs didnt die . and about dogs, dog by itself is not HARAAM and IMPURE and touching it is permitted and doesnt cause impurity, rather only it's saliva and nose water and poo and pee is haraam\impure that shouldnt be touched and... and having dog has many benefits like for hunting and as home guardian and... and muslims are permitted to use dog for these reasons. but having dog as pet INSIDE house is not permitted .

GROUP2 ISLAM4RM QURAN&SUNNAH WHATSAPP GROUP We remind ourselves and others upon complete adherence to the Qur'aan and Authentic Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf-us Saalih (Pious Predecessors) in Aqidah (Belief), Manhaj (Methodology), Ibaadah (Worship) and all affairs of the deen (religion). We believe that unconditional blind following/adherence/obedience is only given to Allah and his Messenger. We cultivate ourselves and others upon the Foundations of the religion, that is the purity of Tawhid (Monotheism, Oneness of Allah) and to abstain/be free from Ash-Shirk (Polytheism, Idolatry) and it's people which is the greatest of transgression to Allah. We invite everyone in following the Sunnah (statements/actions/approvals of the Prophet Muhammad) and vehemently warn from Bid'ah and it's callers (innovations/heresy in the religion). We believe Emaan (Faith) increases with good deeds.We also believe Emaan decreases with evil deeds. We therefore prohibit what Allah has prohibited and prohibit what the Messenger prohibited from the Kabaa'ir and Saaghaa'ir (the major and minor sins). We believe and suffice in acting upon all of the authentically reported collection of Ahaadith (Found in Bukharee, Muslim, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Nassai, Ibn Majah) of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (salllallAllahu allahi wasallam) and regard his pristine and preserved Sunnah to be a revelation along with the Qur'aan. If Ahaadith is shared or statements are ascribed to the Prophet Muhammad (sallallAllahu allahi wasallam), it is a must that the narration is fully referenced, the authentication and checking is included along with it to filter and remove the weak and fabricated. This is to further reinforce and emphasis to dear Muslims the importance of our Hadeeth sciences and give everyone ability to digest and receive the correct knowledge. We reject negligence. We reject Ghuluw (extremism, expressiveness). We reject Taa'asub (bigoted partisanship) and Fanaticism to any individual or group . We reject Taqleed (blind following). We reject Tamyee (softening and watering down of the methodology). We do not engage in any apparent differing or infighting between the respected scholars and students of Ahlus Sunnah (People of Sunnah). Our love, alliance and unity is with the People of Hadeeth collectively, we co-operate upon Birr (righteousness) and Taqwaa (Piety). We hope to use the platform to connect/introduce Muslims to the trusted/well known Ulama of Sunnah as well as the regular classes/lectures of the Salafee Du'aat around the world. Brothers Only Please keep discussions private Before any charity or fundraiser is shared, or whatsapp group is made public, confirm with Admin privately. Each of previous Prophet before Prophet Muhammad SAW was specifically to their respective qaum/tribe - so by all means was localized. Prophet Isa@Jesus AS was meant for Bani Israel. Only Prophet Muhammad SAW was meant for all nations - "al'alamin" and was the final Prophet of Allah! Now it is obvious that Prophet Noah AS was for his qaum/tribe in his locality. So it isn't a big deal to think about " a pair of every animal" in alQuran (or Bibles narrative) and accepting that is a true fact of inclusiveness of "kulli" but was limited to it locality. The big flood was restricted to Prophet Nuh and his people locality only. If anything to establish is that where about Prophet Nuh AS and qaum/tribe was.... but we failed miserably although alQuran advise to do research....to go about on the earth to find outand discover how Allah have previously destroyed rebellious peoples.
