Sapphire and Taupe Mandala | Folk Art Metallic

Check out this tutorial on how to paint a Sapphire and Taupe Mandala using Folk Art Metallic paints! I don't know who thought of Metallic Taupe but Kudos to ya! I practiced this mandala in my sketch book multiple times. I never finished it. I bet I have 5 different trials. So, What I did was look over all the tries and take the elements I liked from each and I put them in this mandala. I didn't know what this one was going to look like until it was done. I sure made a mess of that sketchbook, lol. I guess it turned out in the end. I hope you enjoy this tutorial and create one for yourself. Send me a picture of what you come up with... One of the coolest things about this design is that each element could stand on its own. Just looking at the square portion it was beautiful- then you added another element and it got even beautifuller (yep-it's a word) and this occcurres with each element you added. Love it

Good morning! I actually DID watch the whole thing :-) I never use guidelines, so I'm really interested in seeing the different ways TO use them. My pieces are usually just 'go with it' kinda things, but I want to learn to be more precise. This is beautiful. I love the colors!

I always watch the whole video, then go back and watch it again sometimes. I love this , I never even thought of putting squares into circles. It looks very cool. Definitely going to try this one. And blue is my favorite colour (Canadian spelling of color) lol I love that metallic taupe. I ALWAYS watch the whole video (well sometimes not at one time LOL ). How come I can NEVER push that center dot when I need to? A lot of mine you can see another layer was added because it doesn’t go to the outside line UGH. Maybe someday. Love the Metallic Blue. Love the square center. So new and different 🎉

That center dot is my arch nemesis! LOL! You'd think I'd have it by now eh? ha! On Wednesday you'll see me draw a half inch circle in the middle before I dot. I swear it's the only thing that works for me to get the center. I don't know what to do about bubbles like this one. I'm still not quite sure what causes that. Maybe it's in the paint... maybe it's the way I dip? I don't know... it happens often. It was nice to be able to rewind and put this in slow motion so I could really see. I wonder if it's because I'm not putting the dotting rod down flat... like maybe I'm rocking into place? I'm not sure I'm making sense. LOL, I will conquer that center dot some day! LOL... @@JaDeLRocks I also "make" some of my own brushes BUT I also purchase NAIL ART BRUSHES that are f i n e line. I also find that if the paint is a bit thinner I can make finer lines. If I need to thin I use Floetrol (not water as it dilutes the pigments). or some other paint medium like Liquitex Flow Aid. I keep a small microtip bottle nearby to add drops as needed to my paint.

@@lizsampson9393 in my last video I opened a new brush. I’d been using the brush in this video for at least a year.. lol. It was my first one I think. Because my lines were not as desirable in this video I figured I’d try a new one. It was so much better. I’ve been using that flow aid now for awhile… it’s all I’m using now instead of plain water. Seems to work fine. I’ve never tried the floetrol.. I ordered it but somewhere on the way Amazon cancelled my order. I think it must have opened in shipping. I never reordered.
