Step by Step Tutorial on this rich espresso flower mandala! I love this DecoArt Dazzling Metallics Paint! I'm so proud of using my large dotting rod successfully. That one was hard for me to learn. I hope you leave me some comments on how you would have fixed the cotton swab crater. My fix worked pretty well but it is still visible. I want to give special thanks to Jan M. She sent me this gift of the Chalky finish and the Espresso paint. How sweet was that! I totally recommend these paints but I want you to pay special attention to the back of the rock. I'm not sure if it was a bad mix of resin or if maybe resin doesn't want to stick to this chalky finish. I'm going right away to resin another to see if it was just me or if it was the paint. I'll update this description right here if it's the paint. ⚠ Update.. I mixed another batch of Resin and Put over my last stone that was plain DecoArt Chalky finish. The resin separated on that rock too. I also used the same batch on a rock painted with my same old Apple Barrel and it looked fantastic. So I cannot recommend this paint for use with Art Resin. But it's soooo gorgeous! If you're using another type of protection like varnish or something leave us a comment on what works.

Good Morning everyone ☕️ I hope you love the video! Pay attention to the resin reveal. On the backside you’ll notice the resin didn’t quite stick to this chalky finish. I did several tests yesterday to be sure I didn’t mix the resin wrong. Every test I did was like this and the same batch of resin covered my normal paint just fine. If you use this paint check your sealer first. I’ve heard people have better look with spray like Rustoleum. Let me know what works. Happy painting 🤗 here’s the time stamp for where I turn the rock over… 12:36 and 13:25

Thank you Ann… I’ve come around to agreeing that it’s not nearly as bad as I felt it was when it happened. Lol, it was a real bummer. I gave it another coat of resin and it seems like every time I look at it the blemish fades.

Thanks Deb… it has been raining with threats of flash flooding here. It’s over now but I can’t help but think my problems with drying and even the resin might be due to the high humidity. Thank you so much for the encouragement ♥️🤗

So pretty! Those colors together remind me of carnival glass. The shimmery iridescent look with the gold, green and purpley shades... just perfect. 💜 I have absolutely put some "dings" in neighboring dots while cleaning up pencil marks... it can be maddening and not always fixable. You did good!😂 I hope you're having a lovely Sunday, JaDeL!🤗💖

What caught my eye first was the gorgeous and somewhat unusual choice of colors for rock mandala. Really stands out as original work. Combination of textures (chalk and metallic) is a brilliant idea. Love the way you pull color out of a drop. I've tried sweeping the color out as the dot is applied but never seems to work. Your pull technique appears to be a much more achievable action. Thank you for sharing your time, talent and inspiration.

oooooo this !!! I LOVE this !!! I think the flower pattern could be a sticker (just sayin') Q-TIP CLEAN UP TIPS: 1. Wet the cotton, squeeze excess water off, shaping cotton if necessary. I do this when I have to get REALLY close to wet paint. It keeps those wiry cotton fibers from reaching out & grabbing wet paint from surrounding swooshes or dots. 2. With a tweezer, pull off some of the cotton fibers. Reshape by wetting with water (squeeze excess water off). This can yield a nice pointy tip for cleaning those precarious oopsies. If you pull off a majority of the fibers you get an even more precise cleaning tool. HAPPY SUNDAY !!!

Thank you ♥️ you are full of awesome tips my friend, Thank you ♥️ I like the pointy qtips and I totally know what you mean about the fibers. Good tip to wet em or pull em. I already added part of this design to my redbubble shop. www.redbubble.com/people/jadelrocks/works/141344774-espresso-flower-mandala?asc=u I figure great minds think alike. If I do it again without the oopsie I’ll add the whole design 😉.

Hey JaDel would you recommend the black chalk paint for a 16” canvas as the base coat or would you go with black jesso? Thanks so much!! Love your giant flower and all the colors!!
@JaDeLRocks
@JaDeLRocks Жыл бұрын
I’ve never used gesso before so I’m not sure. I’ve only painted 2 canvases too. I just finished my 2nd canvas ever. It says it already had gesso on it.. white. I covered it with black paint. I used apple barrel even. It turned out gorgeous. This chalk paint was beautiful… I mean just flawless. The only problem is that resin didn’t want to stick to it. I’m not 100% sure that it was the paints fault though. It was pretty humid here when I tried. But.. if you aren’t using resin then I’d totally recommend it. I’ve heard that spray sealer works great over it.

Love it!!! A question, what is the purpose of the Flow aid? TY.
@JaDeLRocks
@JaDeLRocks Жыл бұрын
Hi Patricia and Thank you ♥️ For me, paint consistency matters most in dotting successfully. If the paint is too thick or stringy then your dots can be pointy or even blobby.. making a swoosh or dragging paint becomes a mess and nearly impossible. Thinning the paint makes everything flow better. I was just using water but now I add this to the water 20:1. It makes it as if the paint is gliding on silk. It’s hard to explain. I didn’t really notice a difference at first.. but I get it now. It’s almost like the name says… it helps the paint flow. Plus… I got lots of complaints for using plain water 😂 I could look at this as water treatment 😂😂😂. I hope I explained that ok. I’m no writer. Let me know if I can help further ♥️

@@JaDeLRocks the rock you made is so unique in its own way and I saw the crater as a opportunity for you to add a little bit of flair to it if you wanted to. Just think about it you could have added a bit of rose gold to enhance the rock and also make one of the colors stand out a bit more.

I'm seriously thinking about it! I just went to my rock stash and looked. I have one rock that's really close to egg shaped. I may do an Easter Egg. I did one before but it would be neat to try again. There's a subscriber on here that just started a channel and is showcasing her Egg Art. Let me go find the link to that and see if you get some ideas. She's painting regular egg sized eggs. She said they are plastic but you could do it on anything. I'll leave another comment when I find it... brb
